Summary

At the Francis Crick Institute, the Manby Gallery is our public gallery where visitors can enjoy both free exhibitions and a welcoming café space. The gallery host role is unique and vital – responsible for welcoming visitors, running the café and supporting with the running of the exhibition. This unique role combines museum visitor services, food and beverage service responsibilities, as well as occasional administrative support, making this an ideal role for candidates looking for early career opportunities in the museum and gallery sector.

The Francis Crick Institute is a working biomedical research centre, where over 1,000 scientists are working to understand human health and diseases, looking at why we get sick, and can we can prevent, treat and cure illnesses. The Manby Gallery is our only public gallery where we have free exhibitions related to Crick work and the café open Wednesday – Saturday every week. There are also ad hoc events which take place alongside the exhibition.

The Gallery Host will work with Graysons, a privately-owned independent catering business. Grayson’s are a fresh food company, everything we do is bespoke to the individual contract focusing on the demographic and environment that we are working in. Food and beverage service training will be provided. Catering experience is not essential, but is desirable.

Visitor services training will be provided, along with specific training required for each exhibition.
