About the role
A exciting opportunity has arisen for a Retail Assistant to join our ever growing retail team in Blyth. Our Retail Assistants work alongside the management team, volunteers and work placements to ensure the efficient running of each store. You will help to maximise shop performance and ensure a safe, clean, bright and happy and attractive environment for our team to work in and for our customers to shop in.
- You'll have experience of working in the retail or service sector and will enjoy working in a busy environment.
- You will be passionate about driving sales and delivering the best possible customer service.
- You will pride yourself on merchandising standards
- As well as having good levels of literacy and numeracy, you will need to be strong with IT to use our EPOS system, - You will need to be experienced with a range of social media platforms, such as Facebook, Gumtree and eBay to build our online selling.

Key responsibilities of a retail assistant;
- Ensure high standards of shop floor displays at all times
- All items must be clearly priced and labelled within guidelines
- Carry out daily stock rotation/stock flow
- Collections and deliveries should be carried out as scheduled
- Safety standards for electricals, soft furnishing etc must be followed in line with the Furniture Manual.
- Sales should be maximised at all times (in line with targets), with consistent pricing in
- Process Gift Aid on sales according to CT Guidelines
- Welcoming all customers to CT services, with courtesy, respect whilst providing excellent customer service
- Ensure daily social media targets are met for promoting items for sale
- Support volunteers and work placements with completing sales
- Assist in the recruitment, induction, training for volunteers and work placements
- Create a happy working environment, providing support and guidance for others
- Ensure the Gift Aid process is followed correctly for donated goods
- Follow procedures for using the till/EPOS system
- Ensure cash handling, reconciliation and banking guidelines are adhered to
- Check that sales and deliveries paperwork are being completed correctly
- Proactively respect and manage client details in line with the guidelines of GDPR (data protection)
- Ensure that the premises are clean, tidy and safe at all times
- Comply with CT health and safety policy, manual and fire safety manuals
- Report any safety and maintenance issues to your line manager
- A significant amount of manual handling will be required
- Carry out any other duties to meet team and organisational objectives
