Fundraising & Membership Co-ordinator
Summary
We are a heritage steam railway operated by award-winning volunteers and supported by paid staff, bringing smiles to faces through the beautiful Hampshire countryside for 50 years.
You are someone with a passion for making a difference in an exciting and varied role that will draw on every part of the fundraising mix, from motivating teams to creating glorious donor and sponsorship experiences. You will need to be independent and collaborative, working as part of a small paid team and a large, dedicated volunteer base. You will have an eye for detail and a flair for getting the best out of people. You will be comfortable working with people at all levels.

Purpose of the Role
A new role to deliver the objectives and support the development of the fundraising strategy

Responsibilities of the Role
Membership
- Support the volunteer membership coordination team
- Develop new strategies to attract members
- Liaison with the Watercress News editors over fundraising messages
- Be the key point of contact for the Regional Groups and attend meetings where possible.

Community Fundraising
- Organise and promote community fundraising events, including Walk the Line, running events and volunteer-led initiatives
- Ensure legacy solicitations are regularly and appropriately referenced in communications
Public Fundraising
- Manage the solicitation of the public including but not limited to tap to donate, donation envelopes on trains and volunteer event stands
- Review and monitor all communications to ensure that the charity status of the organisation is constantly referenced
- Manage website donation asks and appropriate web pages.
Trusts & Foundations
- Research local Trusts
- Prepare and draft applications
- Monitor and manage the delivery of grant conditions
High net worths & Ambassadors
- Diarise and record the outcomes of HNW visits, meetings & tours
- Facilitate HNW meetings and tours with transport arrangements, catering and logistics
- Maintain first point of contact for Ambassadors group
- Identify and nurture potential Ambassadors, making recommendations to the CEO.
Donor and grant administration
- Review and set up appropriate systems for donor management and recording
- Manage the administration of existing and new grants
- Monitor and manage the delivery of grant conditions
- Contribute to the identification and collation of grant applications
- Manage donor acknowledgments and thank yous
Volunteer management
- Develop and nurture existing volunteer teams and relationships
- Recruit, train and develop new volunteers matched to required needs
Reporting and Budget management
- Maintain and manage the fundraising budget as set by the CEO
- Prepare reports for the Board
- Contribute to income budget and target setting
Additional General Responsibilities

▪ Ensure effective communication with everyone, both internally and externally
▪ Work closely with other departments to deliver Company-wide programmes and objectives.

Experience Fundraising experience across a broad Fundraising expertise within portfolio within the charity sector, including a cultural/creative trusts and foundations, community and environment. corporate clients and individual giving.
Fundraising experience for
A proven record of securing funding e.g. c apital projects grants, sponsorship and income through fundraising activities.
Experience of implementing prospect r esearch, management and stewardship.
S kill / Abilities Ability to communicate effectively both Expert at utilising social media verbally and in writing to a range of audiences channels, Instagram, Facebook, including colleagues, and clients. Twitter and Linkedin.

A skilled fundraising strategist, who can create Expert at working with and manage a fundraising activity programme. marketing teams to optimise fundraising.
Strong working knowledge of voluntary sector funding streams.
Bid writing/grant application skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, an ability to create a compelling case.
An ability to prioritise and meet deadlines.
Skilled at project and strategic planning and i mplementation.
Education GCSE English and Maths F undraising qualification
& training
Educated to degree level and/or demonstrable experience of working within t his field.
Terms and Conditions
Permanent Full Time 40 hours/week
On site working required.
5 days over 7. Weekend, evening and holiday working will be required.
Holidays 28 days including 8 bank holidays, some of which you may have to work.
