The organisation was set up in July 1999 to address the educational disadvantage suffered by certain marginalised sections of the community. We work with mainly unemployed customers in order to help improve their personal circumstances, qualifications and employment prospects.
Job Description
Functional Skills English Tutor required to undertake formal scheduled teaching and to provide high quality, relevant learning opportunities which enable students to maximise their educational, vocational and personal development potential.
You will:
- Teach and assess Functional Skills English to adults.
- To devise a programme of learning (scheme of work) with appropriate effective teaching and learning strategies, resources and assessments.
- Establish precise learning objectives, content and clear learning outcomes for all teaching undertaken.
- To support learners to access appropriate learning programmes using a range of diagnostic tools and assessments methods.
- Develop, deliver and assess programme units for a range of programmes.
- Develop appropriate learning styles and delivery methods which meet the needs of the learner.
- To maintain attendance registers, records of progress and ensure Learners are correctly enrolled with the College and awarding bodies.
- Engage in analysis data and target setting to raise standards of retention and achievement.
- Act as a personal tutor and support students in managing their own learning.
- Comply with and support ATN’s Quality Improvement and Assurance processes and Management Information Systems as they evolve.
- Promote and support the developments of ATN’s Equal Opportunities Policy and ensure compliance in all aspects of the organisation.
- To carry out duties with due regard to Health and Safety Regulations.
- To present the College in the best light at all times and ensure that all areas of personal activity comply with the standards laid down by the College and relevant outside agencies
Person Specification
- Must be suitably qualified and have a recognised subject specialist teaching qualification e.g. PGCE, CELTA, DTTLS.
- Must have the right to work in the UK.
- You must be reliable, flexible, adaptable, and possess the ability to motivate and inspire learners.
- Strong Interpersonal and Communications Skills.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Professional, accountable and responsible worth ethics.
- Proven understanding of understanding of teaching and learning delivery methods.
- Successful applicants to provide an Enhanced DBS disclosure expense will be met by the applicant.
Please note this is a part-time position. Hours days and times to be confirmed/
Interviews will be in two stages- Stage 1 is a telephone interview. If you are successful, you will then be invited for a Stage 2 face-to-face interview.
