Job Title: Personal Assistant
Hours: 5 hrs per week
Hourly rate: £10.50 per hour
Location: At home in LS15 and in the local community
Purpose of the job:
We are seeking a fun-loving, outgoing and bubbly PA to work with our 11-year-old daughter, L, to provide social support and companionship to build her confidence and independence at home and in the community. The PA will support L to access structured community groups participating in activities like baking, crafts, playing tennis, walking, and dancing. Eventually, the PA may be required to support at swimming lessons which would include being in the water with L.
L’s PA needs to be happy to join in with his playfulness and energy; this is particularly important as L likes to keep close contact throughout the sessions, i.e. holding hands, to feel comfortable. As L has CHARGE syndrome with a visual and hearing impairment, she requires support from a PA to guide and aid with depth perception when out in the community. Strong communication and listening skills are required for this role, particularly when communicating with L in a noisy area. As L uses hearing aids, the employer will provide basic training to the PA to support with managing the equipment.
Part of the role with L may include spending time at home doing fun activities or going for walks with the family puppy. As the family have a dog, the PA must be comfortable with animals.
A car driver is desirable for this role; mileage will be reimbursed and Business Insurance is required. The role will also involve some travel via public transport to build L’s confidence, therefore the PA must be comfortable supporting in this environment.
This is a great opportunity to share meaningful experiences with L, enhance your CV, and develop your skills for your future career. Further training available for the successful candidate.
Shifts:
This role is 5 hours per week. Ideally, the family would like the PA to attend groups with L on a Monday evening and Thursday evening, and weekends occasionally. As these groups vary from week-to-week the PA must be flexible in shift scheduling. Additional hours may be available pending review.
Main Duties:
The personal assistant will be required to do the following tasks and may be asked to carry out other tasks of a similar nature. I will inform them of which tasks need carrying out on a particular day.
