Fullhurst Community College are looking for a Education Technician Apprentice contribute to the effectiveness of the PACA Faculty by maintaining, reviewing, organising and coordinating equipment and activities. The PACA department is D&T, Food, Creative Arts and Music, the apprentice would be supporting any of these areas i.e. to set up, prepare resources, stock take and ordering. Ensuring H&S is adhered and supervise with teachers if students are using any equipment that needs additional support for supervision.

Duties;

To ensure that the PACA facilities are set up in time for each class, lesson or education session.
- To ensure that staff are provided with an efficient, effective service to assist teaching and learning.
- To keep abreast of new developments within PACA especially those relating to education and the college’s curriculum subjects.
- To maintain adequate stocks, components and consumables for PACA faculty.
- To maintain in good order, all equipment within PACA faculty i.e. recording equipment, machinery, kilns, etc.
- To maintain in good order any ICT facilities.
- To maintain good relationships with staff, students, parents/carers and visitors.
- To implement and promote Leicester City Council’s and the College’s policies and procedures relating to all areas of employment and service delivery.
- Follow and adhere to all college policies and procedures including data protection/GDPR policy, equality and diversity policy, health and safety policy, safeguarding children in education - child protection policy
- Maintains equipment in allocated PACA areas, e.g. Kilns, machinery and workshops
- Prepare and clear away practical resources for PACA lessons and projects as directed by teaching staff
- Provides technical support to staff and students, devising and taking part in staff development/training sessions where required
- Assist in lessons and teach small groups of students in the presence of a teacher
- Organises and reports on maintenance for technical equipment/apparatus and annual safety inspections proposing changes to procedures/usage as necessary
- Creates posters, displays for notice boards, information sheets, etc
- Assist in the design and manufacture of items, templates etc. for use in lessons and projects etc
Other Key Responsibilities;
- Advise the curriculum leader on new H&S legislation and other regulations to adopt and adhere to in the classroom
- To be responsible for maintaining IT and paper records of risk assessments, PAT testing records, COSSH for the faculty
- To maintain and monitor inventory of stock within the department and ensure that Health and Safety guidelines are adhered to at all times
- To undertake shopping for the faculties for curriculum use
- Collect money paid by students for consumables/activities and, record payments and pay money into the Finance Office
- Invigilate examinations as requested
- To have a basic understanding of equipment used within the PACA faculty
- To support the PACA faculty during staff absence or as requested by Curriculum Leader
- To be proactive in challenging poor behaviour during lesson and at break and lunchtime in line with the college behaviour policy
- Hospitality for faculty requirements
- Undertake duties and tasks related to the above deemed reasonable by the Principal, Deputy Principal and Director of Resources
- Attend relevant courses and any other training deemed reasonable within the requirements of this post
