PEC enables & delivers personalised customer communications & experiences across all channels, media and business areas supporting the Customer Relationship Growth strategy to deepen relationships with our customers across both the retail & commercial bank. This includes the data, analytics, and technology to unlock the value of differentiating our branded channel experiences, proposition, price and communication; as well as paper-free sustainable ambitions.
This exciting opportunity is within the Personalised Experiences and Communications (PEC) platform for a Full Stack Software Engineer. As the Full Stack Software Engineer you'll lead, direct and shape approaches to solving technical challenges and translating business requirements into technical solutions. You will work in a highly collaborative way to drive efforts to create, build, support and improve our software working closely with the product and engineering teams with lots of exciting new challenges. You'll be a core contributor to ensure good quality and engineering practices are followed in accordance with engineering transformation strategy.

Location: Halifax based, hybrid working with 2 days per week in the office.
Salary & Benefits: £61,911 to £70,000 base salary, plus annual personal bonus, 15% employer pension contribution (when you put in 6%), private medical insurance, 30 days holiday plus bank holidays.

What we’re looking for:
An ideal Full Stack Software Engineer for Communication’s Lab will need to be able to display broad and deep technical experience with a passion for engineering excellence. We’re looking for a dynamic and adaptable individual, able to use and learn new skills in varying circumstances. You'll be curious about technology and understanding how things work and influence positively - demonstrating the right values and behaviours and encouraging this in team members.
Experience...
- You’ll possess strong software engineering experience across the entire product lifecycle. Using a variety of Dev tooling and infrastructure across the route-to-live
- Specific knowledge of Enterprise Application integration, Enterprise Data integration and Data Modelling
- A problem solver who enjoys adopting new technologies and challenges the norm to come up with new and innovative ideas
- A practical understanding of enterprise change management methodologies/processes and a keen desire to develop to support an automation-first mind-set
- Appreciate and understand the diversity of banking customer communications and how these support day-to-day banking journeys & key life events (such as taking out a Mortgage etc)
- Exposure of using Jira and Confluence to drive and support the cadence of the team whilst ensuring quality is at the heart of everything the team does
Skills…
- Front-End: HTML, CSS, JavaScript (Angular, React, Ember), JQuery and Bootstrap
- Back-End: Strong backend engineering experience of at least one programming framework (Java or .Net). DevOps tooling including GHE, Jenkins, SonarQube, NexusIQ and UCD.
- Data modelling experience in data formats such as json, xml and csv file formats
- Database modelling and T-SQL experience in either SQL Server, Oracle or Postgres
- Strong experience of API design and build, integrating with both Cloud or On-prem platforms in both REST and SOAP APIs frameworks
- Designing and building highly scalable and performant applications
