Job description
The Front of House Supervisor is responsible for the management of the Herriot’s Restaurant and Café Bistro to ensure that staffing and services meet the needs of the customer centred service, food delivery service to patients and that the department functions within the budget.
1. Training of catering assistants, new starters or other nominated staff. To assume responsibility during the absence of the Food Service Supervisor as directed by the Food Service Supervisor in liaison with the Catering Services Manager or assistant catering services
2. Maintenance of stringent hygiene standards within the Dining Room, Wash Up area and any areas within the Kitchen used by food service staff.
3. Keeping the Food Service Supervisor, Catering Services Manager and assistant catering manager fully informed of any problems, which may impact on the smooth running of the department, or the efficiency of the meal service.
4. Allocation and control of duties to subordinate staff in liaison with the Food Service Supervisor.
5. Maintain high levels of discipline, conduct, courtesy industry and teamwork amongst the staff in liaison with the Food Service Supervisor, catering Services Manager and the assistant catering services manger
6. Ensuring that all staff on duty are clean and presentable, and maintain a high standard of personal hygiene
7. Dealing with suggestions, complaints and comments from staff or patients in liaison with the Food Service Supervisor and Head Chef or Assistant Head Chef.
8. Maintenance of good consumer relations.
9. Reduction of food waste within the food service areas of operation in liaison with the Food Service Supervisor and Head Chef and Assistant Head Chef.

- Level two Food Hygiene certificate (IEHO)
- Intermediate Food Hygiene Certificate or Level 3 Award in Supervising Food Safety
- Customer Care NVQ
- Previous experience of supervising staff.
- Experience of dealing with general public
- Previous NHS experience
- Effective communication skills both verbal and written
- Good interpersonal skills
- Good organisational skills
- Good time management
