Purpose of job:
The principal duties of the position are to provide a professional and efficient catering service to an office staff of approx 500. The Front of House Assistant works under the supervision of the Front of House Team Leader and as part of the Front of House and wider Administration team which provides wide-ranging support services. Whilst each member of the department has specific responsibility for designated tasks, the department works under a team ethic, whereby assistance and cover is provided by other members of the team. Everyone in the team learns each other’s designated tasks/duties. PT: 10.00am – 6.00pm (Tues-Thur)
Catering
- Ordering / stock control / rotation of catering and domestic supplies for both general staff requirements and for the client meeting room suite. Accepting, checking and unpacking incoming deliveries.
- Ordering and daily distribution of milk supplies to 6 refreshment areas, including the main staff breakout area (The Hub) + the client catering kitchen.
- Stocking the refreshments areas with consumables and catering equipment etc. Managing the operation of the self-serve bean to cup coffee machines
- Responsible for the physical appearance of all refreshment areas, including The Hub, incl periodic cleaning throughout the day of kitchen worktops, coffee machines, microwaves, cleaning the café tables and chairs etc in The Hub and keeping the whole area in order / tidy, stacking and emptying dishwashers, clearing general waste and recycling bins. Periodic defrosting and cleaning of fridges and cleaning of all cupboard interiors. NB: Outside contractors carry out a thorough daily clean of all refreshment and kitchen areas.
- Delivery of refreshments and sandwich lunches etc to internal meeting rooms. Clearance of same. NB: sandwich orders placed by, and lunch trolleys set up by Front of House Operative.
- Assisting within the client meeting room suite as required - setting up refreshments etc and clearance of same and assisting with physical appearance of the client catering kitchen.
Other duties
- Stocking internal meeting rooms with stationery etc. Keeping the rooms in good order. Some re-siting of meeting room furniture may be required (manual handling training provided).
- Attending local stores / shops etc to make misc purchases of catering consumables and equipment.
- Reporting any required maintenance of catering equipment etc to CAFM Helpdesk (Facilities)
- During busy periods the Front of House Assistant may be required to meet and greet clients.
Requirements
- Ideally suited to person with previous office catering experience. The role is very physical and involves cleaning duties.
- Ability to work on own initiative, working either alone and/or as part of a team with fluctuating workload.
- Friendly / sociable personality. Good communication skills. Able to maintain high standard of professionalism at all times.
- Flexibility of hours worked, and duties undertaken.
- Basic IT skills. Knowledge of Excel and Microsoft Teams an advantage. Training provided.
