Remuneration: £120 a day or £70 for a half day

Frequency: Work will be on an ad-hoc basis and sometimes offered in set blocks (such as a repeating morning each week).

Wild Things is looking for Freelance Outdoor Learning Instructors to join our team!

We are seeking enthusiastic and passionate individuals to deliver our environmental education courses throughout the North of Scotland. Examples of this include Woodland or Coastal Classroom with primary school aged children, Bushcraft with teenagers and adults, guided walks, foraging etc., as well as our NCFE accredited Woodland and Coastal Activity Leader Training courses.

More recently, Wild Things has begun working with older demographics, delivering nature day-trips for mobile older people as well as care home programmes. For this reason, we are also interested in applications from people with experience of working with these demographics.

Essential skills and knowledge

  • Leading and managing groups outdoors (working with a variety of groups is desirable)
  • Leading bushcraft and/or environmental education activities outdoors in woodland or coastal habitats
  • Broad generalist knowledge of natural history, including common plants and trees, birds, mammals and invertebrates
  • A passion to enthuse others about the wonders of nature!

Essential Qualifications

  • Forest School L3 Practitioner, Woodland Activity Leader Training or equivalent experience
  • Full UK Driving license
  • Clear PVG or DBS (this will be sought upon joining the team)
  • First Aid (16hr outdoor first aid)

Desirable Qualifications

  • Bushcraft training
  • Social care qualifications and or experience
  • Relevant Safeguarding Vulnerable Children and Adults qualifications
  • Relevant training/further education in environmental based subjects
