In just 6 months we create a private autobiography to be shared with the family. We help our authors relive and recount the amazing stories of their life through personal face to face interviews. Our professional writers craft the book in both words and pictures.

Scope

We are looking for a Designer / Typesetter to join us on an ad hoc basis.

As a Freelance Designer you will be responsible for typesetting private projects from LifeBook Memoirs’ bespoke Opus division. This can include, but is not limited to, autobiographies, corporate histories, family histories and tribute books. Some projects will require the design and set up of new templates, according to the customer’s requirements, but the majority will require typesetting into existing templates. You will also implement proof reading amends, edit clients’ images, and create in-house marketing material and advertorials.

All projects are strictly confidential.

Schedule of work to be agreed with Opus Senior Editor on a project-by-project, ad hoc basis.

Essential Skills and Requirements

• Experience in book layout design and typesetting.
• Excellent knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, specifically InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat. Experience with MS Word is also essential.
• Strong layout and typography skills.
• Highly effective time management and able to work to tight deadlines.
• Ability to adhere to clearly defined processes.
• Ability to work remotely from home comfortably and in privacy.
• Meticulous attention to detail.
• Creative minded with a flair for design.
• Experience of working in a book publishing environment (minimum 3 years)
• Adobe InDesign: 3 years.
• Team-player.
• Ability to work independently, ensuring an exceptional quality of work without direct supervision
