Job description

The Freedom to Speak Up Guardian is an influential role with access to Executive Directors and the Senior Leadership team to ensure that a culture of transparency and openness is promoted & that those raising concerns are proactively supported, protected and appreciated. Excellent verbal & written communication skills are crucial for this role; you will be required to communicate sensitively & effectively with a wide range of colleagues.

You will be responsible for the development & delivery of the FTSU Strategy, lead on the development and continuous strengthening of a robust and open speaking up culture, handle concerns with integrity, confidentiality and tenacity, and hold senior leaders & the Board to account with regard to the Trust’s Speaking Up ambitions. You will also coordinate & support the wider team of Freedom to Speak Up Champions & work with the regional & national Guardian team networks to learn, improve & raise the profile of speaking up at our Trust.

As Freedom to Speak up Lead Guardian, the post holder will work across all roles and levels within the Trust.

The Freedom to Speak Up Guardian is a high profile and influential role, which is integral to promoting a culture of transparency to support the delivery of compassionate patient care of the highest quality whilst ensuring the safety of our patients, the wellbeing our workers, contractors, students on placement, and visitors.

You will also be passionate about empowering staff to speak up and have a good understanding of patient safety and quality in a healthcare environment.

As a Freedom to Speak up Guardian you will operate independently, impartially, and objectively, whilst working in partnership with individuals and groups throughout the organisation, including the senior leadership team.

As a Trust we will support you with the resources and training you need, together with regular support and wellbeing check-ins.

Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust provide services from two main hospitals, Chelsea and Westminster Hospital and West Middlesex University Hospital, and a number of clinics across London and the South-East.
