Delivery excellence as a Foundation Firefighter Development Program (Recruit) Lead Instructor
To support the FSC Fire Fighter Development Program Team Leader and team members who are responsible to delivering a high-quality training experience to the FSC customers and delegates. This role is also responsible supporting the Team Leader, or in their absence, for being the conduit between the Fire Service College and Capita Learning to ensure all obligations are met in relation to the Apprenticeship Scheme. Further responsibilities include liaison with the Programming and Scheduling Team when planning resources, staff and timetable requirements, liaison with the sales team at point of sale to ensure full understanding of what is requested by the clients.
What you will be doing:
Support the development and maintenance of a competent FFDP Training Delivery Team including full time and associate tutors .
To support the FFDP Team Leader and assist in the manage ment of the day-to-day activity of the FFDP training team and individuals against the Directorate key performance indicators. Courses are to be delivered to the highest professional standards, in accordance with the relevant risk assessments and policies, and within the financial cost books.
Work with the Delivery Team and Operational Assurance Manager (DTAOM) to Ensure the FSC has the appropriate teaching resources in place to address customer needs, including whole time and associate tutors.
Working closely with the Quality Team, undertaking teaching observations, CPD with staff and involvement in standardisation meetings to achieve continuous improvement and high quality delivery.
Support the F FDP Team Leader and the DTAOM in making recommendations to ensure that the learning environments are fit for purpose to enable all learning outcomes to be achieved.
Assist with the establishment of, and ongoing development of the Centre of Excellence for F FDP, shaping how the FSC courses improve in quality and how they are presented to our customers.
Assist in the Recruit ment , induct ion , train ing and the develop ment of staff, identify and nurture talent .
Be responsible for the establishment of a clear FFDP curriculum revision programme and renewal to maintain currency against qualification standards, regulations and legislation .
Suggest and make recommendations to ensure that innovations and changes in practice are translated in to FFDP training delivery.
What we are looking for:
An experienced manager with experience of working in a uniformed training environment, ideally a Fire and Rescue Service.
Experience of leading operational incidents and a good knowledge of applying the Fire Service Incident Command System is desired.
Experience of the Fire Sector is strongly desirable. A good working knowledge of the Qualifications and Curriculum Framework is preferable.
The post holder must work well within a team and believe in delivering an excellent level of customer service. They must be an exceptional communicator with good leadership skills and results focused.
An understanding of commercial awareness is desirable, an eye for continuous improvement and innovation is essential. The post holder will hold a nationally recognised training qualification (AET L3 minimum), in addition to the relevant assessor awards. The ideal candidate will also either hold or achieve an Internal Verifiers award.
Ideally, the post holder with have attained a management qualification, or will be working towards one either at level 3 or 5.
IT competency on Microsoft office programmes is desirable (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
