Forklift Operator/Warehouse Worker
Burnaby Office, Full Time
Habitat Systems is the largest provider of commercial grade playgrounds for parks & schools in Western Canada. We are looking for an experienced forklift driver to join our warehouse/shop team in Burnaby (located off of Boundary road).
Skills Requirement Overview
- Forklift experience - Confident, certified and comfortable with large pallet loads (ideally outdoor forklift experience).
- Offloading/loading flat beds, vans, and bins ranging from 16’ long to 50’ long.
- Managing the organization of product in the various warehouses.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs & a high regard for safety protocols.
- Driver’s license / criminal record check / COVID vaccination (mandatory).
Shipping , Receiving, Warehousing & Shop Upkeep Details:
Shipping:
- Work with the operations department and installation crew to manage the shipping of product.
- Reference hardware lists to package hardware for projects.
- Palletize, band, and shrink-wrap product and ensure that product is ready for shipping.
Receiving:
- Offload vans and flat beds with the forklift.
- Offload long pallets from large containers using chains and a forklift.
- Sort items by project and labelling accordingly.
- Receive and handle smaller items.
Warehousing & Shop Upkeep:
- Use a map and schedule to map out warehouses and arrange product in a manner that makes sense for shipping things out chronologically.
- Perform shop walk-throughs on a regular basis. (includes cleaning the shop, emptying bins and vacuums, changing filters, performing safety inspections on various items, etc.)
- Perform regular forklift inspections.
- Complete lock-up procedures on a regular basis.
- Sort and grade materials and hardware as they come and stow them in their respective spaces.
- Perform monthly hardware counts for inventory tracking.
- Move finished product out of the shop and into staging areas.
- Prepare tools and items for sharpener pick-ups on a regular basis.
- Help maintain a tidy workspace in the shop and warehouses when not participating in shipping/receiving duties.
- Willingness to follow direction of others and lend a hand.
General Labour and Fabrication:
- Apply finishes to product like wax end-seal, and varnish.
- Process materials with routers, grinders, and sanders.
- Assist with the assembly, and disassembly, of product.
- Occasionally produce small items
Experience:
- Minimum 2 years as a full-time forklift operator OR minimum 5 Years as a part-time forklift operator (Required)
- Experience handling unconventional or long loads. (Highly recommended)
- Experience with power tools (recommended)

Our Location
Our office is located at 3762 Napier Street in Burnaby (off of Boundary road in between First and Hastings).
Our Hours
Work hours are Monday to Friday 7:00am to 3:30pm
8 hour work day, ½ hour lunch with morning and afternoon coffee breaks
