ASCO require a fully qualified Forklift Operator to support our quayside operations in the safe and efficient loading/offloading of cargo from vessels, vehicles and Base areas, conducted in accordance with all procedures and regulations. Candidates must be currently qualified to operate 5-15T Counterbalance Forklifts. Reporting to the Quayside Supervisor with a working pattern of 7 days on/7 days off, key responsibilities of the role are to:
- Conduct daily Forklift checks, assisting in maintenance work as required, and complete all associated compliance documentation.
- Visually inspect cargo prior to lifting to identify and report all snagging hazards, loose objects and non-compliances.
- Regularly review procedures, work aids and risk assessments.
- Conduct yard and gantry inspection duties, and assist in other areas of operational requirements, as required.
- Continuously promote a pro-active HSSEQ culture, ensuring participation and compliance, regularly reviewing procedures and risk assessments.
- Participate in the continuous improvement of customer service, processes and cost effectiveness.
- Accustomed to working effectively in a fast-paced environment, flexible and can adapt to changing workloads and priorities, where high standards are not compromised under pressure.
- Numerate, with strong interpersonal and communication skills both verbal and written.
- Ability to work stand-alone while also being a positive contributor to the wider team.
- Solutions based, strong analytical, planning & organising skills, an excellent attention to detail.
- HASAWA/LOLER/PUWER Awareness, Oil Spill Awareness, Security Awareness.
Current Forklift license
