EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW
Our Water Quality and Environment team have an opportunity for you to join as our new Forest Ranger.
In your new role, you’ll be responsible for coordinating the maintenance of our 74 Tiny Forests and 2022 Commonwealth Games Legacy Forest Sites. You will help the team to grow and shape Severn Trent Waters’ new woodland sites. You will be responsible for general forestry management and contract supervision including work on a variety of forest activities such as assessing tree establishment, re-stock assessments, deer impact assessments, tree care and minor maintenance works.
You will work closely with the existing Forestry Team and your work will form a crucial part of our work as the Birmingham Commonwealth Games 2022 carbon offset and biodiversity partner. You’ll agree works plans, liaise with partners and contractors, and make sure that project goals and annual targets are met.
Some of your other key accountabilities will include:
Establish links with the Tiny Forest Keeper Teams to communicate about site specific needs and events, while ensuring site infrastructure is checked regularly to maintain health and safety standards.

Complete dangerous tree checks where required

Liaise with customers, landowners, the public and local authorities, and other professionals such as ecologists, archaeologists.
- Supervise contractors and sub-contractors during tree planting and maintenance works.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE
As Forest Ranger you will be experienced in communicating and influencing and engaging with our customers, partners and stakeholders informing them on the positive steps we are taking to improve wildlife and the wider environment in our region.
To be successful, it’s expected that you’ll have experience of practical land management, forestry or conservation work, tree care, and site-based health and safety management.
You’ll also have excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work using your own initiative and supervise contractors.
As travel is expected, a full driving licence will be required.
