Position:
We are looking for a creative and passionate Food Stylist to join our team, playing a fundamental role in the styling of food and props for Jamie Oliver’s shoots. You would assist in creating, testing and developing recipes and shooting concepts, as well as inputting creatively into other parts of our business. You would even have the opportunity to input into the development of Jamie licensed products and packaging - one of the most exciting and fastest growing areas of our business. This role will be key in helping all shoots to run smoothly, all with a positive, flexible and ‘can do’ attitude. Your responsibilities include:
- Style food and props on Jamie’s TV programmes, commercials, social media and other projects managed and overseen by a Senior Food Stylist or the Head of Food Styling
- Lead on ad hoc smaller shoots and projects
- Organise all food, equipment and props for shoots; select props, making lists of what is required and then working with the Assistant Food Stylist to collate
- Autonomously write recipes working closely with the Senior Food Stylist, brief owner & nutrition team
- Work with the Senior Food Stylist in the final testing of high profile recipes and feedback comments working closely with the editorial team.
- To work closely with freelance Food stylist assistants (the food team assistant when available).
- To carry out JO live demonstrations and product launches in the UK and abroad
- To work with the Senior Food Stylist in developing and maintaining JO style for all across all JO projects.
- Work with the food team to test, adapt and approve JO products.
- Check copy and photos for JO columns and syndicated items prior to editing working closely with the JO editorial team.
- Work closely with JO on the organisation and styling of any bespoke outside catering events working with the Head Chef and Event Managers.
- Participate, alongside the wider Food Styling team, in maintaining the shoot kitchens, studio area and prop cupboard
- To comply with and enforce all Food Hygiene and Fire, Health & Safety regulations, attending any training as required by the Company and adhering to all company policies and legislative requirements.
- Work to a budget provided to you by Production, reconciling all receipts at the end of each shoot or project.
Requirements:
- An experienced food stylist with some experience leading on food and props styling OR a highly experienced Chef with excellent food styling skills and a real passion for food styling that might want to try their hand at a new career path
- Experience in working on TV programmes and filming content for social platforms (preferable)
- A highly proficient cook and be aware of market trends in food
- Have creative flair
- Excellent writing capability with proven experience in writing and testing recipes
- Monitor continuity on shoots, paying close attention to detail
- Work independently where required
- Remain calm under time pressure in potentially stressful cooking environments
- Champion Jamie's food beliefs, including fully abiding by the Jamie Oliver Food and Nutrition Standards
- Apply knowledge of the Jamie Oliver range of products, helping to bring content and commerce together, and use these where possible in shoot executions
- Be flexible and willing to work outside of standard office hours (including occasional weekend work and travel both in the UK and abroad)
- Think on your feet to adapt to a demanding, changing schedule and Jamie's requirements
- Live the brand and represent Jamie Oliver on location in a friendly and professional manner and adapt your working style where appropriate
- Be forward thinking and innovative when generating ideas
