Factory Overview:
· 3 shift operation – rotating day shift and permanent nights
· Approximately 340 staff members
· B2B and retail products. 4 bottling lines and 6 B2B vessels and 18 cooking vessels
· Produce mayonnaise, pasta sauces, chutneys, salad dressings and pastes
Site History:
EPC Newbury was purchased by the Billington Group in 1997. It had been founded by John and Ann Curwin making Jams, condiments and Chutneys. In 2004 we opened a brand-new purpose-built factory in Newbury. In 2005 we acquired Suffolk foods which was a manufacturer of mayonnaise and sauces. In 2014 we opened a industry leading innovation facility in Newbury – known as ‘innovate’. We also have a small, one line production plant in Newport – named Newport Very Lazy (VL) as they produce our own brand ‘Very Lazy’ products and we have a larger factory in Newport with cira 180 staff.
Job Overview:
The Technical Information Officer position offers the opportunity to develop your career within a customer facing role, with responsibility for managing your own customer base within a creative and supportive team. As Technical Information Officer you will also gain great experience within a leading production facility consisting of 6 mayonnaise manufacturing lines and 6 hot fill lines, packing into both business to business and retail formats.
Under the direction of the Technical Manager, you will provide technical support to the company, liaising with both suppliers/customers on technical requirements. You will also portray a positive image of the company and its values in a professional manner and manage projects requiring cross-functional approaches.
Responsibilities & Duties:
1. Portray a positive image of the company and its values in a professional manner at all times.
2. Confident in writing Product Specifications and approving artworks for the major retailers and B2B customers.
3. Provide technical support to the company and all customers.
4. Assist in the development/maintenance of company policies in line with new legislation, customer requirements and company standards.
5. Keep abreast of legislation to ensure company compliance and communicate any changes internally.
6. Ensure new products are analysed according to customer requirements for nutrition and shelf life.
7. Completion of Quality Attribute sheets and any other technical documentation required by the customer within the agreed timescale.
8. Attend the sensory review of customer products to assess quality over life and compliance with agreed Quality Attributes standards.
9. Assist in the update and maintenance of Unity to ensure technical information is available for all products.
10. Investigate customer complaints and complete monthly complaint KPI report.
11. Attend and assist with development and product trials.
12. Host customer visit/audit and establish corrective action plan with different departments.
13. Proactively manage projects which require cross-functional approaches.
14. Manage and mentor Junior/Technical Information Officers within the team.
15. Manage objectives set by the Technical Manager and ensure completion within the timescales provided.
16. Any other tasks as required by the Technical Manager.
17. Any other duties which might reasonably be requested in association with this role in order to meet the needs of the business.
18. Adhere to all company rules and procedures, paying particular attention to health and safety.

Work Schedule:
Monday - Friday, core office hours, occasional out of hours for trials.
