Job description
As a food service assistant, you will play a vital role with the service of food in the restaurant, hospitality, through vending machines and for patient catering.
The role involves and not limiting to preparing food, do customer service, stores duties, cleaning duties, delivering and collection of patient meals trolley in an emergency or as required.
As a centre of excellence, you will be offering a person-centred approach to the welcoming, ambience and comfort of the customers
Responsible for the preparation and service of breakfast and lunch food items, deli bar and hospitality items.
Ensure compliance with Food safety and Hygiene standards whilst cooking, chilling and storing food items.
Operating the cash register and taking payments from customers and producing the required supporting information on a sales reconciliation sheet.
Maintain a high standard of cleanliness both in the front and back of house.
Ensure stock rotation is done and items are properly labelled and stored in accordance with the Food Safety standards of the Trust.
Complete all relevant records and documentation as required by the departments policies and procedures

1. Complete all appropriate records and documentation as required by the department’s policies and procedures to include food produced for the restaurant, vending and hospitality including items sold and wastage to assist with stock control.
1. Fill, replenish and clean the service counters, grab and go areas, and vending machines to the required standards.
1. Clean all surfaces and equipment in the kitchen, servery, dining area and stores in line with the Catering Food Safety and Hygiene Manual.
1. Carry out daily and weekly cleaning tasks as directed through the cleaning schedules and complete the required paperwork in accordance with the Catering Food Safety and Hygiene Manual.
1. Assist in the preparation, delivery, service and clearing of hospitality and mobile sales throughout the hospital, and carry out any associated cleaning tasks as and when required.
