Vancouver Coastal Health is looking for a Retail Food Service Supervisor to join the Food Production team working out of Vancouver General Hospital in Vancouver, BC.
As a Retail Food Service Supervisor with VCH you will:
- Report to the Manager, Retail Food Services, and ensure that full service cafeteria and/or coffee shop and daily catering run smoothly for customer service, food quality, food safety, physical safety and merchandise excellence.
- Oversee the daily food service in assigned areas including supervising and training staff, overseeing staffing schedules, ordering, performing administrative financial computerized record keeping for daily, weekly, and monthly periods, performing daily cashouts and related financial entries.
- Approve timesheets and maintains accurate records in Kronos/payroll system.
- Maintain food standards by participating in quality assurance activities and coordinates regular inventory counts.
- Promote and maintains excellent customer relations and effective on-going communication with all levels of staff that fosters a respectful Food Services work environment.
Education & Experience
- Graduation from a recognized program in Food Service Supervision plus two years’ recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Food Safe Certificate 1.
Knowledge & Abilities
- Ability to supervise.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to deal with others effectively.
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
- Ability to organize work.
- Ability to operate related equipment.
The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes. Successful applicants may be required to complete a Criminal Records Review Check.
As per the current Public Health Orders (Long Term Care/Seniors Assisted Living Provincial Health Officer Order and the Health Sector Order), as of October 26, 2021, all employees working for Vancouver Coastal Health must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19. Proof of vaccination status will be required.
