Location - Please note this role is based at the Milk Processing Unit on our Leckford Estate, so you will need your own transport.
About the role
As a Food Processing Operator, you’ll be working as part of a small dedicated food processing team.
You’ll fulfil a role in all operations throughout the Leckford Milk Processing Unit to the highest standards of hygiene, safety and efficiency so as to ensure the supply of highest quality milk that meets the legal requirements & customer specifications.
Some of your key responsibilities include:
Assisting with the intake of raw materials and packaging
Operating the bottle filler and carrying out the various end-of-line (packing) activities
Adherence to local Standard Operating Procedures and achievement of all quality and legal requirement
Minimising wastage of resources (e.g.milk and packaging)
Record all required information in an appropriate and accurate manner.
Essential skills you’ll need
Food Hygiene Certificate
Food Safety level 1 & 2
Accurate record keeping
Working in a Food Processing (or food preparation) environment
Safe Manual Handling
Working unsupervised
Overview of the Leckford Estate
The Leckford Estate is the Waitrose & Partners Farm, located in the beautiful Test Valley in Hampshire. The Estate covers 2,800 acres and has a diverse range of enterprises. As well as the milk processing unit, we have an oilseed processing unit, a mixed arable and livestock farm, orchards and vineyards, golf courses and fishing, a farm shop and cafe, a plant nursery and a garden design and landscaping business. Over 100 Partners (employees of the John Lewis Partnership) work on the Estate, around 10 of whom work in the Milk Processing Unit. The Estate is highly integrated with Waitrose. Indeed, as one would expect, the more than 5 million litres of milk that we process and pack each year makes its way into our Waitrose branches and into our customers’ homes.
