Job description
Colin and his team, at our Pork production factory in Bugle are looking for an engineer to join the team. The job will be part of a much larger engineering team, with potential opportunity to develop over time to other areas of the factory. We are looking for someone who can fit in to the family, friendly team and enjoy the growth of the site as it continues to expand and go from strength to strength.
Working Hours
7.30 am - 4pm - Tues to Sat
Area of responsibility
· To service, maintain and repair all factory equipment in order for production to be maintained at optimum efficiency and enable delivery of key performance targets, safely, effectively and efficiently to meet the required customer and technical standards in a way which is consistent with DC UK values and behaviours.
· Effluent treatment plant (ETP) operative, you will be responsible for ensuring the effluent treatment plant is in working order and meeting all regulations.
· Maintain relationships with contractors who consult on and service the plant and particularly the ETP.
Specific Tasks
Health and Safety
· Ensure you wear correct PPE including ear protection, clothing, and shoes
· Ensure you operate within the Company health and safety standards at all times and that workstations are kept clean and tidy at all times.
· Report any hazards or problems immediately to your Manager and support resolution as appropriate.
Work area /EPT
· Ensure Good standards of General Manufacturing Practice and that the area is audit ready at all times.
· Maintain the ETP systems including topping up of chemicals.
· Maintain and operate the filtering and chemical treatment processes.
· Keep daily records related to the ETP - Recording and analyzing data
· Make decisions based on data analysis surrounding ETP including assessing and escalating risk as appropriate
· Inspect, assist and service the ETP
General
· Delivery of the key performance targets for their designated area.
· To attend breakdowns, in order to minimise machinery downtime and to assist with attaining the factory operational performance targets
· To be available for prompt attendance to breakdown
· To maintain machinery in the highest order to ensure availability of plant to the operations team at all times
· To diagnose defects, effect repairs and evaluate results (test before handing back)
· To understand system drawings and machinery manuals
· To read and access information in order to keep up to date with current technology advancements and implement best practice
· To identify and order the correct spare parts from different sources and communicate this information to all other team members
· To monitor and recycle materials in order to reduce costs
· Monitor and carry out dynamic performance tests of new and current machinery on a continuing basis
· To liaise with Contractors, assess the quality and performance of their work in order to ensure that correct standards are maintained
· To keep records up to date in accordance with good engineering practices and carry out effective handovers
· To communicate with other departments, to influence and educate in order to draw attention to current state, impending problems and to develop a spirit of co-operation across all departments
· Ensure records are maintained and updated as required.
· Undertake any duties within your skills and capabilities which the Company reasonably considers necessary to meet business needs.
Development
· Support effective communication within Engineering, to ensure colleagues are kept informed of business, departmental and team issues to help support operational performance and an engaged and motivated workforce.
· Maintain and apply knowledge of all areas of site and cover colleagues as required. E.g. holiday cover.
· Act as a role model and lead by example demonstrating Core company values, behaviours and high performance standards at all times.

Experience
· Facilities maintenance knowledge
· Waste water control – EPT (environmental implications of running an ETP and chemical reactions within the process)
· Steam Boiler operation
· Ability to prioritise workload effectively with awareness of the production shift plan
· Ability to work under pressure and deliver to deadlines.
· Experience of working within a factory environment.
