We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Food & Beverage Supervisor to join us at the Octagon Theatre Bolton.

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
The Food & Beverage Supervisor will have two primary functions –
· To support the Food & Beverage Manager in delivering the food and beverage operation across the theatre.
This includes daytime operation, pre-theatre dining service and room hire delivery. This is a hands-on role – when on duty in the Kitchen & Bar the Supervisor will lead the out-front service and delivery, ensuring the team deliver a consistent experience for all customers that reflects the Octagon’s welcoming, inclusive and high quality brand.
· Room hire liaison, as part of the team overseeing the room hire element of the theatre, helping build and maintain relationships with room bookers, with responsibility for pro-actively seeking new hires.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Customer service and leadership:
· Lead the out-front service of the food and beverage operation: inspiring and training staff to deliver a consistent experience for the customers that reflects the Octagon’s welcoming, inclusive and high quality brand.
· Work collaboratively with other managers to lead a single customer experience team that delivers a coherent and consistent experience for all visitors to the Octagon.
· Act as Duty Manager when the Kitchen & Bar is open, being the venue’s representative of theatre management.
Operations and finance:
· Operational service whilst on Duty Manager shift including but not limited to:
o To provide superb and pro-active customer service to all customers, audiences and building-users
o Assisting in meeting, greeting and seating customers
o Carrying out table service and the delivery of both hot and cold food and drinks.
o Drinks preparation, both hot, cold and alcoholic.
o Deal with customers problems/queries/emergencies effectively
o Ensure that all public areas are well-presented whilst on duty.
o Be well informed about, activities, performances and events within the Octagon.
· Working alongside the F&B Manager to ensure weekly tasks are completed including:
o Stock control including stock checks, stock rotation, security and purchasing.
o Ensuring waste is accurately monitored, recorded and reduced to a minimum.
o Reconciliation of takings, banking and merchant services.
o Assisting with rotas
· Management of the EPOS system, including updates and reporting.
· Work with Box Office team to ensure the ResDiary schedule is updated and that customer bookings are managed efficiently.
· Work with the multiple departments to maximise the offer for venue hires and events.
· Identify opportunities to maximise room hire potential, forging relationships and achieving targets as required.
· Overseeing and being the point of contact for room hires present in the building while on shift.
· Using IT software to manage room hires and availability, communication via email and telephone, Microsoft excel to track customers and financial information and the use of other software as required.
Health and Safety:
· Maintain the standards of Health and Safety in the F&B service, including food safety and hygiene on the premises, and implementing health, safety and hygiene policy across F&B operations and staff.
· Ensure high levels of cleanliness and tidiness ensuring that Food Hygiene regulations are met and that records are maintained for inspection.
Staff management:
· Support the F&B Manager, manage staff rotas and schedules to cover the Kitchen & Bar operating times, including performances and event/room hires.
· Lead K&B team as duty manager, ensuring all staff are confident in their roles and are maintaining the standards required, delivering a friendly and efficient service.
General:
· Act as a key-holder for the building and take responsibility for opening or locking the theatre as necessary.
· Work in the best interests of the Octagon and in accordance with company policies.
· Undertaking ongoing training and professional development as required for the post.
· Be an effective representative of the Octagon in all situations, demonstrating the highest level of customer care and promoting the theatre’s work and fundraising.
· Work in the best interests of the Octagon and in accordance with company policies such as equal opportunities, health and safety, safeguarding and IT.

PERSON SPECIFICATION
Essential abilities and experience
· Experience of supervising a team delivering a high quality food and beverage service in a high paced environment
· Proven track record of delivering outstanding customer service.
· Be pro-active in the sale of Kitchen & Bar products, food, drink, and confectionary as required to help achieve sales targets.
· Understanding of licensing legislation and requirements
· Experience with stock management
· Good people management skills including training, improving standards, and providing feedback.
· Good IT skills including experience of computerised bookings, EPOS and Excel
· Confident telephone manner
· Able to work flexibly and accommodate some unsociable hours.
· Able to remain calm and flexible when working under pressure.
· Adhere to Health and safety practices as well as Food hygiene and safe methods of working ensuring that all relevant checks are recorded.
· An organized and thorough approach to work, with close attention to detail and an ability to manage multiple priorities.
· Confidence to work on own initiative with good problem solving abilitites.
· Communicate with multiple departments when creating bespoke packages for space hires.
