One of the most beautiful event hire destinations in Berkshire situated between Datchet and Slough, Ditton Manor is a wonderfully historic landmark that is operating as a Meetings, Conferencing, Proms, Private Parties & all types of Specialty Events venue. Set in a prime location just off the M4 and 10 minutes from Heathrow.

As Food & Beverage Operations Manager, you will be an experienced and confident hands-on manager with a strong and proven background. Full involvement of day-to-day operations is required, you will support on functions, meetings and conferences, including room set up and clear down. This role will require strong leadership and influencing skills, you will drive the highest levels of customer service whilst ensuring the quality of the product is uncompromised.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the activities of the Food & Beverage area, improve productivity, merchandising, food quality and service to increase volume, sales and profits.
  • Ensure that all event spaces are set up in accordance with venue function requirements, ensuring the brand standards are maintained throughout.
  • Evaluate and monitor standards within the Food & Beverage operation and make improvements where necessary. Supplying the highest levels of customer care and service whether in the public eye or in the back of house areas.
  • Involved in the meeting & greeting of clients and pre-event meetings for functions regarding final details.
  • Meet and Greet (where possible or allocate designated colleagues) all Conference Organisers.
  • Manage the administration and operational planning of the Food & Beverage department.
  • Work within agreed Food & Beverage margins, wage costs and staff productivity ratios, to ensure the efficient running of the Food & Beverage department.
  • To be aware of stock levels of equipment ensuring the relevant departments have the necessary resources to service the business demands.
  • Ensure training is carried out and ensure monthly training plans are completed and submitted to HR and to ensure statutory training is carried out within the departments.
  • Ensure that all conference/wedding organisers are met by a designated team member who is trained and skilled in this task.
  • React to all audits that are completed and passed to the venue and produce action plans, as required.
  • Work continually to improve customer feedback with the Food & Beverage department.
  • Ensure pricing is in line with venue policy and that all price lists and disclaimer signs are displayed correctly.
  • Develop standards of customer care and run conference and events as per function sheets to the agreed standard, including the supervision and monitoring of the service and production of all food and drink within your departments.
  • Ensure adequate staffing levels in relation to business requirements and that timesheets reflect information on your department rota. Agreed wage targets are to be adhered to at all times.
  • Ensure the areas of responsibility are kept presentable and tidy.
  • Ensure all monies are handled correctly and ensuring that all room/main accounts charges are signed for.
  • Ensure that all equipment is correctly cleaned and turned off at the end of the shift ensuring that equipment is in working order.
  • At the end of the day ensure that the area you have been responsible for is closed down and cleaned in accordance with the closing down procedure.

Skills/experience

  • Conference, Meetings and large events experience, preferred but not essential.
  • Knowledge of Opera, preferred but not essential.
  • Microsoft office – word, excel, outlook etc. General qualities
  • Excellent written and oral communication – must be confident and articulate
  • Eye for design with high attention to detail
  • Well organised - ability to work under pressure and to deadlines and targets, with a flexible and adaptable approach to work.
  • A real passion for Food & Beverage is a must
  • A can-do attitude, team player, spirited & relentless in your objectives
  • You will also be able to manage people in a consultative style, by balancing control with encouragement and having ability to manage conflicts.

Job Types: Full-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 6 months

Salary: £33,000.00 per year
