Working closely with other teams and organisations, you can expect to be involved in any of the following:
Responding to incidents is a central part of what we do. You will be required to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident. This may attract an additional payment and full training and alternative working arrangements will be available to support you with your incident role.

- Collection, analysis and interpretation of data
- Flood risk mapping
- Working closely with customers and partners
- Taking part in incident management when flooding occurs
- Providing technical support to help the team deliver a variety of flood defence schemes.

The team
Our Partnerships and Strategic Overview (PSO) teams focus on four areas – evidence (underpins all our work), strategic overview of flood risk from all sources, engagement and tactical direction, project development and delivery, and regulation (e.g., planning consultations and environmental permits). We aim to create more resilient catchments so flooding causes less harm to people, results in less damage and those affected can return to normal more quickly.
Experience/skills required
We are looking for people with a relevant degree and / or transferable skills with an interest in flood and coastal risk management and passion for the environment.

Desirable technical skills
- A working knowledge of Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
- Knowledge / understanding of one or more of the following – flood and coastal risk management hydrology, river geomorphology / hydraulics, modelling.
