Newrest is looking for a Flight Handler to join our team. We are excited to be preparing for the increase of flights into London Gatwick, as a result of the recent government announcements relating to travel to and from the UK.
The Flight Handler will take full responsibility for ensuring all airline meals and in-flight products are dispatched to airlines on time according to the agreed service level standards.

CONTRACT: Full Time, Permanent, Starting as soon as possible.
LOCATION: London Gatwick.
SALARY: £13.80 per hour.
ADDITIONAL HOURS: Flat Rate.

Key responsibilities and accountabilities
- Plan, coordinate daily workloads before the start of each shift and work with internal colleagues to meet daily deadlines.
- Ensure all in-flight meals, special meals and products are assembled according to client flight specifications.
- Place security seals on all storage trolleys ready for dispatch.
- Deliver all items to aircraft and confirm menu briefing with crew to ensure flight is fully catered.
- Ensure suite dressers dress cabins according to client’s specifications.
- Responsible to make sure required airline standards are met regarding packing plans. (Full training and supporting documents will be given)
- Effectively load airline food and catering supplies inside delivery trucks and at the Aircraft.
- Utilise effective communications to minimise delays and resolve problems.
- Multitask and work under pressure.
- Lift and/or push approximately 50lbs.
- Assist with other duties within various departments as and when required.
- Interact with, colleagues, customers and clients in a professional manner at all times.
Skills and Knowledge
- Minimum 1 years’ airline industry, experience (desirable).
- An ability to work well under pressure and part of a team.
- Self-motivation, commitment, enthusiasm, the ability to work calmly under pressure and on your own initiative.
- Excellent communication skills, written and verbal with a customer centred approach to service delivery.
- Proven problem-solving skills, efficiency and organisational skills.
- Operational awareness, understand of HACCP, COSHH, requirements and any other training as specified by your manager.
- Any other duties as requested by the line manager.
- The ability to be an effective ambassador for the organisation at all times and whilst wearing uniform off duty.
