About the Role
Base Location: Flexible UK | We're proud to offer a Flexible First approach to work, and this role is no exception. We will, however need your base 'home' location to be one of our SSEN offices or depots around the UK. Preferred Location Reading, Glasgow, Perth or Portsmouth
Salary: Up to £66,100 + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

SSEN Distribution has an exciting opportunity for a wide-ranging role as a Flexibility Performance Manager to join our growing Network Operations department within Distribution System Operations (DSO). This role will be at the cutting edge of the development of Flexibility Services for the Distribution Network and will be key to delivering Net-Zero.
The Individual will be responsible for development of Flexibility Services and Curtailable Connections products for Network Operations. This involves working with internal and external stakeholders to ensure SSEN is best in class by creating and operating simple and efficient processes and developing products to meet stakeholder needs. As part of developing products, the individual will work with Industry bodies and partners to ensure alignment on operating Flexible Solutions; from a technical and commercial perspective. The individual will be responsible for representing SSEN on joint forums, including ENA, ESO and internal to SSEN ensuring all deliverables are embedded within the business.
- Product Development: Take accountability for the development of existing flexibility products and create new solutions to help DSO meet its ED2 targets for flexibility. Ensuring products are integrated within SSEN to create the maximum value for the business. Ensure development is aligned with our SSEN operational departments (Regions and Distribution Control Centres) and our ESO counterparts.
- Service Management: Take responsibility for the development and improvement of process for key service frameworks; these include support, delivery, operability and dispatch decision making. Ensuring SSEN delivers on key DSO baseline expectations.
- Business Assurance: Provide assurance by monitoring and managing risks presented to SSEN from the operation of Flexible Solutions. Confirming, in the form of audits, SSEN business units are following processes and reporting is accurate and timely.
- Reporting: Establish and track key performance indicators for SSEN in a consistent and standardised format including documenting and tracking regulatory reporting metrics.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Develop relationships and liaise with internal and external stakeholders at conferences, industry forums, stakeholder events and working groups to effectively develop the solutions delivered by the team to ensure that maximum value is derived for the business and our customers. As a recognised industry expert in flexible solutions, represent SSEN as a commercial / technical expert at UK wide industry forums & technical working groups.
What do I need?
To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:
- Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills, with the ability to collaborate, influence and inform opinions.
- Demonstrable experience of applying Quality planning, control, assurance and improvement.
- Excellent analytical skills and demonstrable experience of presenting, at a senior level, business KPI's in a clear, professional and consistent manner.
- A good understanding of the electrical industry - specifically energy markets and power system networks.
- An understanding of Flexibility Services and Curtailable Connections would be advantageous.
