Fleet Operations Manager
Contract type: Permanent
Working hours: This is a full-time role, and we’re to open flexible working hours including flexible start/finish times, just let us know on your application.
Location: We’ll support you to work flexibly from home (providing a suite of IT equipment), whilst coming together on site to offer face to face support and collaboration.
Closing date: Friday 9th June
Salary: Salary from £55,000 depending on experience
Join EDF as a Fleet Operations Manager, where you will have responsibility for the safe operation and management of the vehicle fleet and their suppliers, to ensure that operational needs are met cost effectively.
This extends to the provision of vehicle fleet-related services to other companies that form part of EDF in the UK. The fleet size is currently close to 2,000 vehicles, split roughly 75% LCV and 25% cars. The role includes the management and development of other team members within the EDF Fleet Services team.

The opportunity…
A key part of your role will be to select commercial vehicles, fit out and ancillary equipment solutions, products, and designs to meet operational requirements. Presenting compelling arguments to convince key stakeholders to accept recommendations based upon operational fleet best practice. To then implement agreed strategies and identify opportunities, fine-tuning the delivery plan to ensure continuous improvement.
You will be managing the delivery of a cost-effective outsourced fleet management service including vehicle supply, maintenance, breakdown, fleet administration, accident management, fuel, and other associated services. Overseeing vehicle ordering, reallocation opportunities and disposal processes ensuring maximum performance, utilisation rates and return on assets.
Work collaboratively with team members and key stakeholders, providing professional advice and support to achieve or exceed agreed personal objectives. Acting as the Contract Manager for third party suppliers linked to the vehicle fleet supply chain, in conjunction with appropriate EDF Business units.
What we’re looking for…
We are looking for someone with previous Transport Management experience and an understanding of vehicle finance, including residual value setting, whole-life costs and a wider knowledge linked to budget preparation, financial performance, risk management and P&L management. Having a good understanding of the health, safety and environmental issues affecting operational fleet management is required. You will have knowledge and experience of relevant legislation and statutory obligations relating to compliant operation of the vehicle fleet.
You will have worked in a customer facing role previously and have excellent communication and presentation skills. Articulate and confident to converse with and/or present to all levels of the organisation. Ability to persuade and debate with tact and diplomacy, being polite and assertive.
You will have proven project management skills and experience of managing third party contract providers within the vehicle fleet supply chain. You will also have previous experience of managing a team, encouraging development and continuous improvement. The ability to coach, motivate and influence others, and providing opportunities so that they can give their best, develop their potential and achieve results and objectives.
Possesses good commercial skills and acumen – experience of negotiation and dispute resolution. Well-developed analytical skills and the ability to understand financial information in both summary and detailed forms. Good level of computer skills and experience of operating software such as Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Able to confidently access supplier portals and fleet management systems to interrogate and analyse the data content and form accurate conclusions.
