The Role

Are you someone with proven aircraft maintenance/technical experience looking for an opportunity to apply these skills in a more commercial and strategic environment? Are you a natural collaborator who can manage stakeholder expectations across multiple departments and organisations? If so, there is now an opportunity to use your skills to support British Airways in delivering its fleet plan and to get involved in the global aircraft manufacturing and leasing industries in the process.

As a Fleet Development Delivery Manager, you will manage the end-to-end engineering process for new and second-hand aircraft configuration, entry into service, aircraft deliveries, lease returns and disposals. To ensure a timely and costs effective delivery of the aircraft fleet plan that contributes to the strategic growth of British Airways.

Note: This role will require a significant amount of international travel often for several weeks at a time

What you’ll do

You will be the technical interface between our aircraft manufacturers and lessors alongside the directorates within British Airways responsible for aircraft sales and leasing. You will project manage all aspects of fleet development which will involve working collaboratively with all of the Engineering departments as well as with multiple external organisations. This is to ultimately ensure that aircraft are delivered, returned or retired in a way that meets all of British Airways’ technical, regulatory and commercial obligations to our external suppliers and internal stakeholders.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing engineering and technical support to directorates within British Airways responsible for Aircraft sales and leasing
  • Supporting on-site inspections with aircraft buyers and lessors
  • Coordinating technical systems configuration new and second hand aircraft in line with the business and manufacturers' deadlines
  • Using knowledge to technically conclude lease return activities in line with the lease contract
  • Ensuring compliance with all appropriate company, contractual, legal and regulatory requirements

Who we’re looking for

We are looking for someone who has a strong working knowledge of aviation regulatory requirements and the application of aircraft maintenance systems. We are also looking for someone with a good understanding of the organisation, operations, products and services across the aviation industry. Good commercial acumen will also be essential to performing the role and an understanding of finance will be beneficial. An ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders across multiple departments and organisations is also a key function of the role

In addition, you’ll bring:

  • 3 years of aircraft maintenance or technical experience in operational/support roles
  • Demonstrable project management experience including managing multiple streams
  • An understanding of the technical, contractual and regulatory requirements of aircraft fleet management
  • Experience of financial and corporate governance
  • Ability to influence at senior levels
