NHS Lanarkshire have an exciting opportunity for a First Steps Worker to join the team at Airdrie Health Centre.
Please note this is a part time post and the salary for this position will be pro rata.
Working as part of the midwifery teams. The First Steps worker will provide intensive support to targeted vulnerable families (pre and post birth, up to 6 months old) The support will take place primarily within the families’ own home with the main aim of empowering these families to provide the best possible start for their children in their earliest years and beyond. Environment and parenting practice that are safe, healthy and nurturing will be encouraged and supported.
KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED TO DO THE JOB
Professional child care or health care knowledge acquired through SVQ/ HNC level or demonstrable experience of working with vulnerable children and families
Experience of working in a community, hospital or education setting
Be able to work independently or within a team liaising with colleagues as required
Effective verbal and written communication skills are essential
It skills
Knowledge of relevant national and local policies and processes
Commitment to ongoing personal development
Driving license
