- Carry out fire safety risk assessments, raising non-conformance reports and initiating mitigating actions and ensuring their implementation and ongoing compliance.
- To be responsible for maintaining and promoting your own knowledge of relevant legislation, guidance, best practice and attending relevant training.
- To represent the team at a range of meetings, chairing, delivering presentations and delivering reports as appropriate. Actively engaging as part of the Fire Safety Action Group (FSAG)
- To work with other local stakeholders to ensure strategies are in place to meet the needs of service users/residents.
- To work in partnership with the directorate/department's performance team to monitor performance indicators and other key data and to ensure that targets are met and performance is monitored.
- To deal with enquiries and complaints from members of the public, Members and MPs as requested. To advise and prepare replies/reports.
- To carry out home visits and to different establishments as and when required including work outside of the borough working remotely away from management supervision.
- To undertake any other work appropriate to the level and general nature of the post’s duties.
- Where necessary for the job role or appropriate for continued development in the role, the post holder may be required to participate in training and development courses made available via the Council’s Apprentice Levy funding.
- To undertake all duties with due regard to the provisions of health and safety regulations and legislation, Data Protection/GDPR, the Council’s Equal Opportunities and Customer Care policies
- A NEBOSH Fire Certificate or equivalent as a minimum
- A knowledge and understanding of fire safety legislation, policy and best practice
- Good knowledge of fire risk assessments and building safety requirements
- Knowledge of BS 9999, Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) 2005 and PAS 79
- Knowledge of contract law, statutory regulations, guidelines, British standards and their implementation in relation to refurbishment and maintenance contracts
- Experience of carrying out FRA management within a housing service or similar customer focused organisation
- Significant experience in delivering a fire safety strategy in an repairs and investment environment
- Experience of working with complex social housing tenanted blocks
- Ability to plan and manage work to implement programmes and meet targets set by the Team Manager
