JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title : FREELANCE FINE ART TUTOR, for adults and children with learning disabilities &

mental health needs.

Location : Friary House, Friary Park, Friary Road, London N20 0NR

Position : Sessional Tutor

Reporting to : Project Manager

JOB PURPOSE

We are seeking a tutor on a sessional basis to deliver inspiring and innovative Fine art sessions to adults and children with learning disabilities and mental health needs.

Community Focus run term time courses, plus projects during half-terms and holidays.

Fee: £25 - £30.00 per hour (depending on project)

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • The Tutor is required to design and deliver innovative and inspiring workshops / projects for young people, children or vulnerable adults (depending on the project).
  • To design projects and classes with a focus on students wellbeing and positive mental

health.

  • To create a positive, friendly group environment in which students feel included and safe.
  • To collaborate with the design of sessions or projects with project manager.
  • To lead, create and deliver meaningful, creative projects, which match the project brief.
  • To create lesson plans in advance of teaching on an agreed date with the project

manager (to include materials list).

  • Write feedback and student progression reports.
  • To record – visually and notes for Community Focus social media.
  • The Tutor is responsible for the day-to-day communications of the project to the Project Manager and students regarding safeguarding or any other issues of concern.
  • With project manager risk assess activity in advance of delivery.

PREFERRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

  • Demonstratable experience of traditional drawing and painting skills.
  • Experience in working with a variety of different media.
  • Experience in teaching adults or children with learning disabilities.
  • Education to a degree standard or equivalent.
  • Excellent inter-personal and verbal communication skills.
  • Positive and enthusiastic.
  • A commitment to the aims and objectives of Community Focus.

The successful applicant will need an up to date and valid DBS.
