THE OPPORTUNITY

- Senior Financial Crime Advisers
- Financial Crime Analysts & Junior analysts
Key Responsibilities:
- The primary focus of this role is to carry out client due diligence on the firm's existing client base as part of a key on-going firm project. This will include:
- Being trained on anti-money laundering processes & undertaking client due diligence using a variety of different research tools;
- Researching the firm's existing client base, with a particular focus on its ownership & control structure and identifying any financial crime red flags;
- analysing each new client to understand any potential financial crime and/or reputational risks and assigning an appropriate risk rating;
- Ensuring that the firm's Practice Management system is maintained with accurate and timely data for client and matter transactions
- Creating and maintaining on-line resources
- Assisting in the preparation of team reports
- Administrative tasks.
- Supporting and participating in discrete projects as needed (e.g. assisting in the response to regulatory requests).
- Any other duties as required.
Please note, the work in this role would not constitute "qualifying work experience" for the purposes of the Solicitors Qualifying Exam.
SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Degree educated or similar level
- LPC qualified desirable
- Previous paralegal experience desirable (with a preference for experience in a City practice)

GROUP / TEAM DESCRIPTION
General counsel and risk is a multi-disciplinary legal and analytical team. It consists of an internal legal services team, risk and compliance lawyers, internal audit, information security, enterprise risk and new business intake. These disciplines work together globally to ensure that we fulfil all our governance, contractual regulatory and compliance obligations. The general counsel and risk team also advises on the firm's risk profile and risk-based decisions.
The team also supports the executive and governance boards, manages the firm’s insurance matters and has responsibility for implementing the firm's client and matter selection strategy.
It advises our partners and lawyers to ensure that Herbert Smith Freehills remains a highly trusted advisor in a constantly changing world, and works with our Business Services professionals in managing risk on behalf of the firm and enabling high quality strategic and risk-based decisions to be made.
