Job Title: Financial Crime Operations Investigator
Location: Birmingham
Corporate Title: Associate
You’ll be joining the Anti-Money Laundering (AML) / Counter Terrorist Financing (CTF) Financial Crime Operations team which ensures that systems it monitors are operating and being used in accordance with relevant legal and regulatory AML and CTF requirements.
Your main focus will be to be a front line investigator with an Investigations Team either within Alert Operations (L1), responsible for investigating transaction monitoring alerts, internal referrals and external fraud.

Your Key Responsibilities
- Tasked with investigating Transaction Monitoring Alerts
- Investigate internal escalations to determine whether they require external reporting
- Apply consistent, robust and defensible rationale to alerts to comply with relevant Legislation and regulations, for example Proceeds of Crime Act and Money Laundering Regulations
- Utilise your knowledge of AML / CTF typologies/ trends during investigation
- Utilise open source intelligence to identify any relevant adverse information that may influence investigations
Your skills and experience
- Experience as Alert/AML with knowledge of financial crime typologies/trend
- Experience in producing evidential case files using knowledge of legislation
- Understanding of the legal/compliance issues related to complex Banking organisations
- Understanding of financial transactions, ideally specific to an investment Bank
- Educated to Bachelor’s degree level or equivalent qualification/relevant work experience
