Overview
We are a female owned independent food retailer with 12 stores in London. We are seeking a Financial Controller to support our Finance team and ensure we have the best standards of financial practice.
Scope and main purpose:
The Finance Controller is responsible for the day to day financial planning and control of Bayley & Sage in conjunction with the CEO. The key deliverable is to collaborate with the stores, e-commerce and other revenue generating teams to meet or exceed the agreed budgets.
The role involves ensuring that stores have an effective financial planning and control environment. Management information should be accurate and informative and provided on a timely basis.
The Finance Controller will work closely with the CEO and Senior Leadership team to maximise synergies in working practices.
The Finance Controller is also responsible for maintaining a strong financial planning and control environment, in compliance with all regulatory and fiscal requirements, for Bayley & Sage limited and its associated legal entities.
Key Objectives:
- To establish an effective financial planning and control environment within each store
- To ensure the delivery of accurate, relevant and timely management information
- To collaborate with the wider Bayley & Sage team to meet or exceed the budgets and forecasts
- To act as a role model in terms of values, professional ethics and conduct
- Responsibility for consolidated group reporting – all locations
- Review of monthly reporting package for all stores, property and e-commerce businesses.
- Review of key monthly balance sheet reconciliations
- Review of Daily and weekly reporting (cash, folios, revenue etc) and controls
- Overseeing budgeting / forecasting processes
- Overseeing group tax compliance (VAT, PAYE, Corporate income tax, stamp duty, Capital taxes etc)
- Review of VAT returns
- Overseeing company secretarial related matters for all Bayley & Sage group companies
- Annual insurance renewal / ongoing insurance related requirements
- Managing Year end audit process
- Review of statutory accounts for all Bayley & Sage group companies
- Development of systems and controls (processes, reporting, software systems etc)
- Management and development of Finance Team
- Review of key monthly balance sheet reconciliations
Main Duties:
PEOPLE
- To lead the Bayley & Sage Accounts/Finance team
- Facilitating the sharing and implementation of best practice processes
- Ensuring that members of the accounts team receive the appropriate training in order to allow them to carry out their roles effectively
- Facilitating direct training on financial systems or processes as appropriate
QUALITY
- To provide accurate and timely reports to the CEO and Senior Leadership team in line with reporting timetable for both Finance and Operations
PROFIT
- Control expenditure by monitoring monthly P&L and KPI’s, actuals and forecasted
- Constantly research ways of improving the profitability of the stores via innovative ideas
- Lead the preparation of the annual budgeting process for Bayley & Sage
- Keeping all forecasting and reporting up to date, with the ambition of forecasting accuracy kept within x%
- Ensure the finance processes across the company are robust and that a strong internal control environment is in place.
- Being responsible for the sign off of payment runs and being aware of each store cash flows

Salary: £60,000.00-£70,000.00 per year

Experience:
- Accounting: 2 years (preferred)
