Job description
We're seeking an experienced Financial Assistant (credit control) to cover maternity leave in our busy finance team. The successful candidate will be a quick learner and be adept at learning systems, have previous client facing experience and be able to build a rapport with clients. You will also have a solid background working in a Finance team and be able to understand accounts reconciliation. In addition you need to be able to have difficult conversations - part of the role involves debt chasing!
You will work 3 days in our Manchester studio and 2 days remotely.
Scope of the Job:
You will manage the sales ledger and the credit control process for the practice (we have 4 studios across the UK).
This role reports to our Finance Manager.
Responsibilities:
· Ownership of the credit control process, monitor customer balances and ensure issues are highlighted to management on a timely manner
· Customer registration form completion & interrogation
· Draft and issue sales invoices
· Ownership of the billing process on project management system Rapport3 for the above studios, ensuring that customers are invoiced on a timely manner
· Understand fee drawdowns & agreements with customers and ensure these are correctly reflected in the billing process
· Reconcile customer accounts on the accounting system & project management system
· Supplier registration form completion
· Purchase ledger data entry on Xero
· Processing expenses
· Assisting with month end
· Assist the Finance Team with any requirements
Experience Required
· Experience of debt recovery and credit control
· Experience in the billing process & accounts reconciliation
· Ideally but not essential Xero experience
· Ideally but not essential experience of working in a professional service company (e.g. Engineers, architects, surveyors, consultants, lawyers, accountants)
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
· Strong written and English speaking ability
· Advanced IT Skills (Highly proficient in office)
· Knowledge of accounting system (Xero ideal)
· Ideally AAT part qualified or any other finance and accountancy related qualification
· Immaculate attention to detail
· Excellent organisation skills
· Assertive
· Able to prioritise and manage deadlines
