The role works within the Store Facing Business Partnering Finance team and is responsible for supporting the Retail Leadership Team and other Retail Stakeholders. This role is responsible for creating the assets required to effectively business partner, focussing on value creation and collectively strengthening our performance. The job holder will provide insight, analysis and commentary to stakeholders, aiming to influence and drive decisions and actions that improve the bottom line. This individual will support the Finance Manager and Head of Finance in their business area and the wider Retail Finance team as required.
What you need to do
- Run and interpret corporate management reporting to provide timely insight, analysis and commentary to stakeholders across Sainsbury’s
- Identify risks, anomalies and opportunities and flag these to Finance Manager / Head of Finance for prioritisation
- Build an understanding of an external perspective and use to engage Finance colleagues
- Complete ad hoc / bespoke analysis for the business area as required to drive improvements and provide decision support
- Provide support and input into the Commercial Review process
- Work with internal teams, such as ADA, as required to complete analysis to resolve business problems
- Work with the Transformation and Reporting team to develop uniformity of reporting and performance evaluation across all Retail channels enabling our business partners to quickly establish their areas of focus through the Channel, Cost line and Geographic lenses
- Ensures rigour around inputs into planned capital investments and business cases
- Provide finance education to Retail stakeholders as required
- Support the wider team on other Finance processes and budgets as required
- Attend business review meetings supporting our Stakeholders as needed
- Stepping up to cover the Finance Manager and Head of Finance where needed
- Success in this role will mean supporting the business in making decisions that enhance performance to drive incremental income for the business, improving ROI performance and managing cost lines effectively
What you need to know and show
- Professionally Qualified Accountant (ACCA/ACA/CIMA), or studying towards qualification
- Strong Excel and numerical skills, with an aptitude for turning data into analysis and insight and being able to clearly articulate this through your communication
- Strong commercial acumen
- To have a good track record of strong financial control, but also the ability to maintain such an environment
- Effective communicator with all levels of stakeholders, including audiences of varying financial and commercial acumen
- Self-motivated team player, able to work autonomously, prioritise with good problem-solving abilities
- Comfortable working with ambiguity, and ability to present complex information in a simplified manner
- Must have a strong eye for detail and accuracy
