Purpose of the Job
This role sits within the Global Workplace Solutions (GWS) division of CBRE, in the DCS segment looking after the global business which has an annual turnover of c. $1bn.
In recent years DCS has grown significantly and this role is vital for supporting the senior leadership team. This is a well-rounded role involving relationships with multiple stakeholders across the business, Client Teams, Functional Teams, Central Finance, and FP&A.
Key Tasks:
Preparation of management information in the month for the DCS business as requested, involving the setup of monthly flash files globally.- Ownership of the Month End Order Book and ensure movements from prior month are summarised (bridge)
- Work alongside the finance graduate and oversee the Monthly DCS Turnover (Billing) report, maintaining ownership of the report in PowerBi (and associated smart sheet adjustment files) and collating monthly commentary from across the business.
- Train the finance graduate on the downstreaming process and any associated calculations e.g Training, Insurance, shared events. However ultimate ownership will remain with role holder.
- Performing of month end close activities for the Global OPEX P&L. This involves preparing and presenting final Global Opex bridge of results to the Global Reporting Manager, Controllership and FP&A.
- Act as gatekeeper for late journals, Reviewing and posting of late journals for all of DCS (required after ledgers closed to general posting).
- Support the finance graduate and oversee the dimensional posting errors (DMMs), ensuring all are resolved by month end for Global OPEX. Responsible for disseminating DMM reports outside of the UK for dynamics entities.
- Assisting the FP&A Manager with any reporting queries in relation to the TM1 vs Flash Check variances. Particularly with any ERP mapping issues, using knowledge of in month & YTD activities.
- Ownership of the Global OPEX Balance sheet, highlight any risks and opportunities and fully reconcile all active accounts under Business Finance responsibility.
Reporting and Management Support:
Ownership of the monthly reports for the SLT (e.g. COO Pack, GAD Updates, League Tables) by following up on prior month actions and challenging any anomalies with relevant stakeholders.- Manage the intercompany recharge process and ensure all invoices are closed out within 30 days.
- Ownership of the quarterly corporate forecast for Global OPEX with guidance from the Global Reporting Manager. This will entail a clear understanding of processes (e.g. CSA, intercompany eliminations), structure (e.g. headcount, FTE status or recoverability status) and future plans of the business.
- Support in producing the annual DCS Global Opex Plan – collate challenging and realistic expectations based on latest available management information.
- Support in maintaining the accuracy of the Project Orderbook reporting throughout DCS as well as aiding in migration into MIRI platform.
- Being the first point of contact for the business with any issues relating to Central Finance or ad hoc queries.
Value Adding:
Whitespace: attend monthly meetings and use knowledge gained to help the business investigate any discrepancies as well as provide insightful analysis/commentary for Global Whitespace Director. This will also include a monthly flash update outside of standardised packs.- Ensure company/SOX policies and procedures are adhered to as well as promptly communicating any issues to the appropriate level and resolution monitored.
- Analysis and proactive use of the business information to add value to the business e.g. any useful reports that could be used such as DCS Metrics driving compliance to process.
- Working closely with the Supply Chain Business Partners. Involving the Monthly review of Global WCP and other rebates based on spend with Preferred suppliers, ensuring:
- Monitoring if results are accurately posted
- Ensure Forecasts are updated accordingly
- Challenge any assumptions behind calculations submitted.
- Supervision of Graduate Trainee, including training on all relevant ERPs, TM1 and PowerBI Dashboards. Develop line management skills via mentoring and delegation of tasks that will enhance the graduate placement. Involving the setting of clear objectives and regular 1 to 1s to monitor progress.
- Ensure DCS representation across all new reports / trainings by active participation in training / steering committees (SteerCo)
- Any other task / role as reasonably requested by the Global Reporting Manager or Global FD
Success Measures
Management accounts and final bridge prepared and presented accurately and timely with sound explanations of the results each month.- Proactive approach to streamlining processes and enhancing existing tools e.g. Moving all Dynamics DMMs reporting to PowerBI,
- Internal audit gatekeeper - highlights local procedures are robust and effective.
- Feedback from senior business unit management indicates added value input to decision-making.
Person Specification
Studying towards a recognised Accountancy Qualification (Part Qualified/Final Exams) up to 2 years post qualified.- Able to make sound decisions when needed and take accountability for outcomes.
- Must be detail conscious and methodical in approach.
- Able to deal discretely with sensitive information.
- Calm manner, able to work under pressure and manage rapidly changing demands and priorities.
- Highly organised, and able to effectively manage multiple tasks.
- Use of MS Excel to an intermediate/advance level.
- Able to review and analyse large volumes of data.
- Proactive, strong communication skills enabling the individual to work with GWS employees of all levels and external customers or third parties.
