Role Overview
The role is to maintain the day-to-day accounting process including a focus on the accounting control and audit of specified business units within the UK. with production of the month end result, balance sheet reporting, forecasting and planning. Supporting the cost centre managers in understanding their budgets and expenditure implement and maintaining controls, reconciliations, and establishing a consistent reporting stream to the UK Business Units and Corporate Centre.
What you’ll do:
Responsible for the financial reporting cycle of specified business units within the UK MU, including the preparation of various journal postings, review and approval of non-local ledger submissions, and the analysis of monthly trial balances
Maintaining the fixed asset register and including assisting with the annual revaluation process and capital projects
Prepare and support monthly and quarterly Tagetik group submissions under IFRS and EBS
Support of preparation of ~ 45 annual statutory accounts • To be familiar with policy, rules and accounting standards that govern the preparation of accurate financial accounts.
To perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations within tight predefined month end time frames and to resolve any reconciliation items by the following month end.
To assist in the improvement of the nominal ledger account code structure to ensure operational efficiency is maximised with the ultimate aim of making the financial and management accounting process as efficient as possible.
To prepare quarterly IPT, VAT returns, providing support and guidance as required to Business Services Finance – Corporate Services.
To provide relevant financial information on a monthly basis to allow the timely preparation of the management accounts.
To assist with the process of preparing forecast submissions to the Group Reporting Team along with review with the Senior Accountant and Financial Manager.
To complete yearend financial and statutory returns as per group and industry guidelines as well as the maintenance of year end working files for internal control, group submissions and external audit review.
To participate in ad hoc projects and prepare ad hoc analysis reports.
What you’ll bring:
The successful candidate is likely to be newly qualified or have the equivalent level of experience within a finance environment
Advanced IT Skills including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and accountancy software.
Excellent customer, analytical and communication skills
The successful candidate will have good commercial skills and the ability to adapt to new environment quickly
Some project experience would be desirable
