The Role & Responsibilities
Finance lead for reporting of monthly impairment charges under IFRS 9 and for the coordination of monthly balance sheet analytical reviews, both of which are presented to the CFO. Responsible for completion of accounting policies across Finance and for drafting of papers on application of new accounting rules or on treatment of new business initiatives including acquisitions. The role provides support and coordination of various BAU and project initiatives with other areas of Finance including Treasury, Tax, FP&A and Regulatory Reporting.
Key Role Responsibilities
- Work with Risk and our outsource provider to ensure timely delivery of monthly ECL’s and production of a reporting pack on impairment charges for presentation to the CFO and CRO.
- Collation of a Monthly Balance Sheet Analysis, working with Treasury, Financial Controllers and Senior Financial Accountants to ensure integrity of all balances and a comprehensive narrative on key changes month on month.
- Ensure all month end accounting entries and reconciliations are completed in line with timetable to ensure a timely general ledger close to facilitate reporting. Ensure data integrity through oversight of controls, checks and reconciliations.
- Responsible for monthly tax posting, working with head of Tax to agree effective rates by legal entity and ensuring reconciliation of all related balance sheet accounts.
- Coordination and production of accounting policies and drafting of papers on accounting treatment for new business initiatives.
- Support analysis and remediation of risk scoring of monthly journals generated by AI software.
- Support the audit process for half year and year-end through provision of supporting papers and reconciliations and coordinating delivery of PBC items from the wider Finance team.
- Identifying, escalating and implementing process improvements and be an advocate for continuous improvement.
The Person
- Educated to degree level
- Qualified with a professional body such as ACA, ACCA, CIMA etc with 2-3 years post qualification experience
- Experience of working in the Financial Services sector
- Experience of using SUN general ledger system (or equivalent)
- Reconciliations experience
- Excellent communication skills to deal effectively with internal and external stakeholders
- Excellent planning and organizational skills
- Enthusiastic “can do” attitude
- Able to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
- Accuracy and attention to detail
- Analytical approach with strong problem-solving skills
- Establishes effective working relationships at all levels
