Background

Billhop is expanding and to strengthen our position as the market leader in our industry area, we are growing our UK team. The UK is already our biggest market, and the growth potential is extensive. We are recruiting a Finance Manager who will be a key player in building the infrastructure that will allow us to continue expanding our client offering and facilitate our scale-up journey.

The role

We are looking for a commercial Finance Manager who will have a key role in growing and developing the UK business. Billhop has about 40 employees in total, and as part of a smaller UK team, you will focus on UK operations and activities, while collaborating closely with the parent entity in Sweden. Since the UK entity is in the early stages of an ambitious scale-up journey, you will have a unique opportunity to operate in a broad role, covering not only a financial planning and controlling responsibility, but also business development and client engagement activities. You will report to the UK MD and work closely with the UK team to develop strategies, plans, and policies that align with the overall company goals. You will also collaborate with the Swedish finance team.

Key tasks:

  • Responsible for the financial controlling and be a key part in business development and growth initiatives for the UK entity
  • Act as a business partner to MD UK and management and collaborate to assess and update on topics such as commercial performance and regulatory capital
  • Take an active and hands-on role in client related activities
  • Day to day book keeping and payroll is outsourced to a third party, we expect that you become the internal liaison for this third party
  • Preparation of monthly management accounts and year end statutory financial accounts, along with assessing monthly reporting deliverable to the parent entity (Sweden)
  • Manage the daily reconciliation of funds for UK Clients
  • Ensure accurate and robust compliance and reporting
  • Support finance related product implementation which involves cross-collaboration with internal (e.g. product managers, developers) as well as external stakeholders

The role will be fully remote, based in the UK and you have the possibility to work either full time or part time.

About you

We hope that you are as passionate about building something together with others as we are and that you enjoy working in a fast-paced and entrepreneurial organization characterized by collaboration, flexibility and trust. We also hope that you get excited by the idea of joining an ambitious scale-up journey and are curious to learn more about the fintech industry and BTB payments solutions.

To succeed in this role, we think you need:

  • Relevant academic qualifications along with experience in either financial controlling, financial audit or management consulting (3-5 years)
  • Understanding of accounting principles
  • Experience or interest outside the finance area, such as sales or business development
  • To have the ability to analyse data and suggest structural and product improvement strategies
  • Prior experience in a regulated environment and experience in talking to a regulator is preferred
  • Ability to understand the financial services regulatory environment in the UK
  • To enjoy working in a multi-national and multi-disciplined team

We also think you are:

  • A good collaborator and communicator - able to successfully engage cross-functionally e.g. with product, customer support and commercial
  • Able to communicate complex issues to all levels of internal and external stakeholders
  • A strong and solution oriented problem solver
  • Accurate and detail oriented, great at finishing detailed jobs
  • A self starter and can organise your own work (you’ll get a lot of support but soon you’ll be the expert here)
