Reporting to the Financial Controller, the finance functions manager role give’s exposure to the business operations through being part of the central functional finance team. You will have exposure to functional controls, alignment of polices and process and the continuing development of our transition towards integrated Management Information Systems. The Submarines business along with the finance function, is strengthening to support future growth, and this is increasing demand for finance support in terms of quality management data, control, governance, and financial acumen.

What you will be doing:
You will have responsibility for a performance measurement – weekly & monthly KPIs & performance against targets. Enabler of the annual Budget setting and validation exercise. Participation in monthly functional business review, preparation of performance data and presentation to the first line.
- Ensuring our finance polices and processes are up to date, relevant and aligned to the Rolls-Royce, and defence management systems.
- Leading our continuing development towards our transition to an integrated finance Management Information Systems.
- Developing relations and plans with our external statutory auditors, to include the interim, hard close and year end audit processes.
- Delegate for Financial Controller
- A leadership role in making sure that we eliminate waste to create the headroom to grow and support the culture change necessary to seize the businesses opportunities.
- Actively working with the business and associated finance business partners, supporting the Improvement Journey to Process Excellence and pro-actively engaging in improvement activities.
- Development and promotion of financial awareness within the business.
- Lead, engage and develop finance staff.
- Leading and developing the functional risk process to ensure that finance is compliant and integrated with Submarines and the wider finance function.
- Leading and developing the functional business continuity and sustainability plans.
- Support towards developing the annual functional business plans and BPD.
Who we’re looking for:

- Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA preferred).
- Educated to degree level or equivalent experience.
- Forecasting, budgeting, and cost accounting experience.
- Knowledge of financial systems (SAP/HFM).
- Experience of running a finance team & development.
- Implementation of improvement track record.
- Contract review process experience (IFRS 15).
- Experience of business planning, reporting and controls.
- Basic experience in preparation of Business Evaluations/ business cases.
- Government Accounting & SSCR experience.
- RR leadership Qualities – Agile, Bold, Collaborative.

To work for the Rolls-Royce Submarines Business an individual has to hold a Security Check (SC) clearance without any caveats to that clearance. Rolls-Royce will support the application for Security Clearance if the individual does not currently already have this in place.
Due to the nature of work the Business conducts and the protection of certain assets a person has to be a UK national or in MoD approved cases a Dual National from a non ITAR country.
