LOCATION(S): Edinburgh
HOURS: Full Time
WORKING PATTERN: Hybrid, 40% (or two days) in an office site

About this opportunity
An exciting opportunity to join our Cost Transfer Charging (CTC) Costs team within Group Change Management, as a Finance Manager. Our team are responsible for allocating the Group’s costs to the income generating divisions, (Retail, Commercial Banking and Insurance). The CTC process is an integral part of the Group’s reporting, and its impact is far reaching across the group.
As a Finance Manager within our team, you'll take ownership and accountability for:
  • Providing support to Finance and COO partners:
  • Delivering reporting, valuable analysis, cost drivers insight and expertise
  • Articulating the story behind cost movements to senior partners
  • Allocating the Group’s indirect costs to divisions in an accurate, fair and transparent manner
  • Actively assist and empower our junior colleagues to assist in the creation of a hard-working and engaged team to achieve objectives and deliver above expectations
In addition, your key responsibilities will include undertaking all CTC Controls activities including but not limited to:
  • Producing monthly reporting, including variance analysis and ability to ‘tell the story’
  • Engaging senior partners, including Divisional Finance and COO teams
  • Applying strong financial control across reporting, incl. system controls in TM1 & GDRS
  • Driving forward the Finance ‘Keeping It Simple’ agenda – the CTC team is constantly looking to improve and automate processes
  • Keeping up to date with business changes and restructures and ensure that the CTC allocation methodology reflects underlying costs and drivers
  • Processing and reviewing large volumes of data and turn into meaningful analysis
  • Leading or mentoring a small number of colleagues

What you’ll need:
  • Qualified accountant or qualified by experience.
  • Having positive relationship leadership skills, with the ability to build networks, challenge, influence and agree actions at a senior level.
  • Having strong intellectual and analytical ability, with attention to detail to ensure very high standards of information integrity
  • Having ability to ensure robust and accurate processes are put in place, controlled, and continuously improved
  • Having knowledge of and interest in the overall Group cost strategy and the themes that are shaping it
  • Having strong understanding of market and banking/financial services industry environment (commercial awareness)
  • Having robust knowledge of Finance systems used, Excel, PowerPoint and TM1
  • Having excellent interpersonal and relationship management skills
  • Having self-motivation & a proactive approach, bringing innovation to problem solving
  • Continuously promote a culture of process improvement within the team
