Job summary
We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic Finance Manager to join our friendly, supportive, well-established finance department and practice team.
This is a great career opportunity to join the Management Team of a dynamic, growing and highly regarded GP Practice.
We are looking for an energetic, motivated and well-organised individual to lead on the overall financial function of the Practice. The person appointed will be appropriately qualified and have proven skills and experience in managing business finance.
Excellent financial management skills combined with an ability to work within a skilled team environment, meeting exacting standards is a pre-requisite.

Main duties of the job

The following are the core responsibilities of the Finance Manager. There may be, on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependent on factors such as workload and staffing levels.
a. Manage Finance Administrator ensuring appropriate delegation and supervision of tasks and support their development and training.
b. Manage practice finances, maximising income and reducing expenditure
c. Accurately monitor cash flow, forecast and predict workflow corresponding to income
d. Review all income and expenditure statements, identifying any inaccuracies and rectifying such issues
e. Submit year-end figures liaising with the practice accountant including subsequent meetings
f. Oversee the practice pension scheme, in collaboration with outsourced Payroll/Pension Bureau retaining accurate records
g. Manage partners’ drawings
h. Oversee PAYE for all practice staff, in collaboration with outsourced Payroll Bureau
i. Present financial forecasts to partners as and when required
j. Produce staff budgets with recommendation for annual uplift, based on DDRB recommendations.
k. Continually consider cost savings projects across all aspects of practice expenditure
l. Periodically review payroll and accounting software packages/outsourcing to ensure most competitive, user friendly and integrated system in primary care.
m. Understand and brief the management team on financial implications of contract and legislation changes affecting the practice
n. Maintain an effective working relationship with the ICB, ensuring the practice receives a proportionate and equitable allocation of resources
