Finance Graduate - 3 year (36 month) fixed term contract

Chivas Brothers Finance Team, based in Glasgow city centre, is seeking to recruit a Finance Graduate to join them for a 3 year Fixed Term contract. Predominately this role will involve assisting with the annual UK statutory accounting process, involving the preparation of the statutory accounts for Chivas Brothers two main trading entities as well as 40 other UK non-trading companies. There will be an opportunity to study towards a professional qualification (fundamental stage of ACCA). This role will be based at our Glasgow office, located in Blythswood Square.

In your role as Finance Graduate, you will report to the Financial Accountant, and be an integral part of a small professional accounting team. Your key responsibilities listed below:

Extracting trial balances from the ERP system and loading into CCH accounts production software

Assisting with the preparation of ‘extended trial balance’ (ETB) workbooks containing reconciliations and analysis to support the statutory accounts;

Applying ‘I-XBRL’ tags to statutory accounts for the purposes of HMRC processing.

Maintenance and preparation of accounts for 70+ dormant companies.

Maintenance of databases containing information on all UK group entities.

Processing and reconciliation of intercompany reports for the purpose of month end group reporting.

Quarterly preparation of UK group dividend tracker.

Half yearly preparation and submission of balance sheet reconciliations

Providing analysis for ad hoc projects as required.

In two years time, commence training the new Finance Graduate (aim is a 6 month handover)
There will also be the opportunity to spend up to 3 months of each year with the Chivas Tax department, assisting in areas including: employment tax reporting and preparation of Corporation tax returns.
Our ideal Finance Graduate will have/be:

A University or College graduate in a finance related discipline or a candidate with previous experience in finance related industry role.

Higher Accounting or base level knowledge of book keeping

Good ability on Microsoft office applications, particularly Excel.

Experience of a work environment.

Looking to embark on the path to a professional accounting qualification

Good written and oral communication skills.

Keen to contribute and develop, with the ability to understand and interpret new information, processes and software.
