We are a well-established privately owned global B2B and B2C consumer branded goods company with a market leading position in many areas of the pet market, which has been proven to be robust in times of recession and pandemic.
We are looking for an experienced finance leader to guide us through the next stage, maintaining our steady performance, and getting the best out of our people, systems and operations.
You will be a finance director at a similar sized SME (£20m - £30m turnover) or a senior finance manager with substantial experience. We will be your new home where you will enjoy adding great value across a broad spectrum of responsibilities in the business while constantly maintaining a robust financial control environment.
Essential
- Qualified accountant (or qualified by substantial experience) with a minimum 5 years in a senior finance role.
- A confident leader who is able to develop and coach senior direct reports, and manage relationships with external stakeholders including auditors, banks, legal advisers, insurance brokers.
- Ability to forge strong relationships with head office and other regional leaders.
- A high level of competence with MS Excel, including working with complex data and building compelling board reports. Knowledge of Cognos and SQL would be an advantage.
Responsibilities
- Seven direct reports in finance, credit management, IT and facilities, warehouse, HR.
- Produce monthly management accounts and a KPI pack to accurately reflect the business performance.
- Work closely with our existing financial controller to actively manage cost control measures to maximise efficiency and profitability.
- Ownership of cash and working capital management, including currency hedging.
- Help drive superior performance in our warehouse by working with the warehouse management team to identify efficiency gains and improvements in all aspects of service delivery.
- Be a critical friend to our in-house IT team, helping them assess evolving system needs and match them to available software.
- Work in close partnership with the Managing Director to refine and deliver our strategy for employee management, development and engagement.
- Manage relationships with third party service providers to drive cost effectiveness and maximise benefits.
- Support Managing Director and commercial team by helping to commission accurate and insightful analyses of sales, margin and inventory trends.
- Contribute to global finance, IT and warehouse projects (head office in Canada, regional hubs in Germany and USA).
We currently operate a hybrid working model with 3-4 days on site at our UK head office, the balance working from home if you have the facilities to do so.

Salary: £80,000.00-£85,000.00 per year
