The Department:

The Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics (DAMTP) is a large department with around 50 academic staff, 100 contract research staff and a team of 25 Professional Services staff. DAMTP sits in the Maths Faculty with the Department of Pure Mathematics and Mathematical Statistics (DPMMS) and some professional service operations are shared across both departments. We are very pleased to be expanding our Professional Support Staff team with this new role, and are currently advertising two further roles (HR Administrator and Assistant to the Business and Operations Manager).

The Role:

The Finance Team in the Department of applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics is growing and we are looking for a new Finance Coordinator to join the existing team. The current team comprises the Finance Manager, who leads the team, a Senior Finance Assistant, a Research Grants Administrator and a Senior Research Administrator.

In this role, you will play a key role in supporting the Finance Manager. You will be responsible for ensuring that financial transactions are effectively managed and will ensure that financial information (budget reports, expenditure analyses, etc.) are provided in a timely fashion to relevant stakeholders.

The Finance Coordinator will carry out financial management and reporting activities. You will act as the key contact for the department with university central finance to ensure a full and up to date understanding of the Department's financial position. You will provide financial advice to the Head of Department and budget holders and monitor and chase income and ensure that actions needed to enable payment are performed in a timely manner.

Once an offer of employment has been accepted, the successful candidate will be required to undergo a health assessment.
