Role Context
We are seeking an experienced and confident senior accountant who wants to take their career to the next level. We operate across four countries with more to come. This provides an excellent opportunity for a strong finance professional to build their global experience and skillset. Pupil is a leading spatial technology company. We capture and publish 3D information about real-world interiors on an industrial scale. Our technology is raising the standards of practice around the globe and is set to revolutionise industries by digitising the world’s interiors at an unprecedented level of accuracy. You’ll be joining a demanding, ambitious technology company at an early stage, so we’ll expect you to take ownership and feel responsible for a broad range of activities that will help us succeed. Financial processes will need to be adapted and scaled to meet increasing global complexity and you will play a key role in ensuring a close eye is kept on expenses and performance. We’re looking for an ambitious and hard-working individual with the desire to lead our finance function and be a driving force in the business as we scale.
You should ideally have experience in a startup / scale-up environment, helping a business develop into new geographies and business growth cycles.
Required Experience
Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA);- The ideal candidate has 5-8 years of post-qualified experience, ideally in a high-growth business;
- At least 5+ years leading the accountancy function;
- Experience in multiple geographies is preferential;
- Experience in startup / scaleup environment is preferential;
- Strong academic background;
- Mathematical and data-driven approach, with advanced Excel. Ability to use data analytics tools would be an advantage;
- Effective communicator, comfortable working with different teams across the business;
- A strong leader who can hold peers accountable for their department deliverables;
- FX experience;
- Xero experience is beneficial.

Key Responsibilities
- Take responsibility for day-to-day finance processes: Managing all day-to-day finance processes across the group including revenue recognition, receivables, payments, reconciliations, intra-group transactions and cash flow management
- Internal and external financial reporting: leading preparation of monthly management accounts, variance analysis, annual accounts and quarterly tax returns; regulatory reporting and communication with investors
- Financial Forecasting and Planning: Supporting the maintenance of financial forecasts for the business and working closely with department heads on budgeting and spend management
- Strategic and operational projects: leading and supporting across various projects including group tax strategy and procedures (VAT, R&D), and company expenses, while continuously looking to optimise and improve our financial processes
- Support leadership in financial planning alongside metric/KPI analysis, maintaining an overview of unit economics, operational expenses and runway
- Work alongside the Founders to build budgets, financial models and fundraising strategy
- Manage the external accounting team with regard to all things related to tax, invoicing and payroll
- Manage transactional finance (AP/AR/bank/credit control etc) using technology to automate where possible
- Coach and develop promising accounts assistant
- Oversee tax compliance, accounting, and banking within different geographies & responsible for the consolidation of global entities and intercompany accounting
- Support sales team in target setting and performance management
