The operational finance team are here to support the performance, and growth of the business. We help our operators, both at sites and HQ to understand financial performance. We drive the businesses internal financial reporting, forecasting, and budgeting processes, and strive for continuous improvement in everything we do.

Own:
- The production of timely and accurate management accounts, including processing journals, balance sheet reconciliations and variance analysis.
- The provision of management reports and analysis in order to drive performance across the business.
- The ability to build outstanding relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including our operational managers.
- Assist in monthly performance updates with relevant divisional and operational managers.
- Assist the Finance Manager with the preparation of forecasts and budgets.
- The preparation of reports, analysis and data for the Finance manager and Group Finance Manager Operations on an ad-hoc basis.
Lead:
- The communication channels between relevant operational roles and the wider Finance team.
- An approach to continuous improvement across the operational finance team.
Teach:
- Operational teams and divisional how to interpret and understand complex financial information.
- The importance of financial controls to the operational teams.
Collaborate:
- Assist in ensuring that all accounts requirements in connection with the year end and external audit are met.
- Assist the wider Finance team with all ad-hoc projects and request as required.
- Be a pro-active member of the operational finance team, assisting others in their roles where needed to ensure deadlines are met.
- Regular communication by the most appropriate means with internal colleagues to ensure all tasks across the team can be completed in a timely manner.

1 month You will start to understand the culture and values of Student Roost. Get to grips with the Operational finance team process, buddying with an experienced team member who can show you what great looks like.
3 months You will have met and built strong high-quality relationships with our people, customers, clients and colleagues. You will have a strong understanding of the day to day tasks, and working towards being self sufficient in these.
6 months You will have forged best in class working relationships with the operational leaders of the business you work with, you are the go-to finance contact for any queries from the relevant operational managers. You are now self-sufficient in the day to day, and driving a culture of improvement and excellence across the Operational finance team.
About you:
- You hold a recognised accounting qualification, e.g AAT qualified, or Part qualified CIMA, ACCA or equivalent.
- You have previous experience with management accounts, including preparing balance sheet reconciliations and have a working knowledge of prepayments and accruals.
- You are a skilled user of Microsoft Excel, and competent user of other Microsoft software.
- You are an excellent communicator, both written and verbal. With experience of communicating financial information to non-finance team members.
- You are highly organised, self-motivated, and strive for continuous improvement in everything you do.
