Depop is a place for anyone to discover and celebrate their style on their own terms, and to feel good about their fashion choices by extending the lives of millions of garments.
The company was founded in 2011 and is headquartered in London with offices in Manchester and New York. Depop has approximately 400 employees dedicated to its mission of building the world’s most diverse progressive home of fashion, that’s kinder on the planet and kinder to people. Depop is an equal opportunity employer. Our mission is to build the world’s most diverse progressive home of fashion. To do this, we encourage people from underrepresented communities to apply. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees. We’re continuing to build recruitment processes that are fair and welcome requests for reasonable adjustments required throughout your interview experience with us. Depop supports visa sponsorship, sponsorship opportunities may be limited to certain roles and skillsets.
The Team
The Strategic Finance function is expanding to better support the business structure and scaling up. Following the recent Etsy acquisition, the requirements on strategic finance and analysis are becoming more complex and of increasing operational importance. With the recent arrival of the new Head of Strategic Finance, the team is evolving to provide best in class commercial insight in the context of a US listed business: extending across reporting, KPI analysis, process improvement, budgeting/forecasting and strategic planning support.
The Role
The Finance Business Analyst is a pivot role among the Strategic Finance Team, ensuring accurate, robust and timely performance analysis and reviews to key stakeholders. This person will gain great exposure to the finance and compliance team as well as senior stakeholders within the business and will be trusted to support their continued growth.
This is a partnering role that will support the business to make important decisions by implementing impactful reporting. This exciting role will be suited for someone with experience in both hands-on and strategic solutions in a dynamic and fast paced environment.
We’re looking for an experienced, practical individual who is prepared to work as part of a team but also has a good level of autonomy and confidence in their own decision making. This individual will need to be comfortable generating solutions and results in an environment where data and processes are still evolving with high growth.
Responsibilities:
- Act as a key point of contact for its stakeholders across our key business areas.
- Implement key performance analysis and reporting on both respective and forward looking.
- Closely work with the accounting and compliance team to support performance analysis.
- Key contribution for ensuring that monthly forecasts reflect the latest outlook, reviewing and challenging assumptions and ensuring any known risks and opportunities are understood and communicated.
- Contribute towards the medium term planning, annual budgeting and consolidated forecasting processes for the whole business.
- Actively participate in embedding wider budget discipline and process efficiency across the business.
- Provide analysis and assessment of performance against the agreed budget and monthly plans, identifying trends and making recommendations for improvements.
- Deep dive into key investment areas to identify contribution and performance compared to plan and other benchmarks.
- Partner with the business to provide analysis, financial modelling and forecasts in line with new commercial and growth opportunities.
- Suggest & contribute to process efficiency for monthly and quarterly KPI performance monitoring as well as for forecasting purposes. E.g leveraging new systems and automating reporting.
- Support the strategic finance team in identifying/tracking strategic initiatives, monitoring company performance and margin improvement opportunities.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree with Accounting qualification completed (CIMA, ACCA).
- Significant experience in similar business partnering roles or financial planning and analysis, ideally experience within a fast paced environment.
- Strong financial modelling skills and advanced use of Microsoft Excel - able to manipulate large datasets and use complex formulas.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with ability to present financial concepts to non-finance managers.
- Organised, strong analytical skills, strategically focused, detail-oriented, and able to deal with ambiguity in a constantly evolving environment.
- Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team. Natural curiosity for improving things and proactively taking initiative.
Desirable:
- Previous exposure working with senior business stakeholders on budgets and supporting strategic decision making and driving change.
- Experience in implementation of new processes or BI/forecasting tools.
- Experience in a similar role within a high growth, eCommerce or SAAS environment is a plus.
